Harry Kane

I definitely don’t think that City are desperate. You will win trophies with or without Kane.

It’s every bit as much the case, I think, that City fans think that Spurs are desperate to sell. And that isn’t true either.
Okay, maybe not desperate but the player wants out and he’s worth more this year than next and you do need the money. I’d love to see him at City, but like it or not, finances are a big part of the game that can’t be ignored, no matter how much we want him. I’m guessing we would probably go to about £130m but whatever the figure is we have in mind we won’t go above it. That’s a common misconception about our club amongst rival fans.

You talk some sense, main thing I’d have issue with it players not being allowed to leave and knuckling down etc, maybe however the theme at Spurs is when your top players want to leave, they do. Bale, Modric, Berbatov, Carrick. I actually can’t think of a time a top spurs player wanted to leave then didn’t.
Modric in 2011. Wanted to join Chelsea. Stayed one more season. Played brilliantly. Got a move to Real Madrid the following summer.

But, yes, ultimately players that want to leave will get their move. The difference, thus far, between those other sales and Kane is that they all went for top dollar. I don’t believe that City’s offer comes close to that yet, as far as Levy is concerned.

I see this point all the time but, with respect, debt isn’t the inherently bad thing that you seem to think that it is.

But I’m aware that most posters on here couldn’t give a monkey’s about Spurs’ finances (other than hoping that we go bust, I guess!) so I’ll save such chat for the Spurs thread in General Discussion.
I am very aware that debt is not always a bad thing but the level of your debt is, shall we say, rather unhealthy. Could I ask you, are you comfortable with the level of Tottenham's debt?

Kane will get his move IMO. I suspect what's happened is that Levy doesn't want Kane going on strike and doesn't want a public shit fight with him, and therefore there's been some kind of private agreement that there's a financial tipping point at which the deal gets done. I don't think it's going to look good for ENIC if Kane goes fully public with a transfer request and an interview about broken promises.

The valuation is sort of moot for me because City want him and he wants City. Whether it's 120, 130, or 150 I don't really care. Landing the player is the important thing.

Similar to what I'm reading regards Varane/Utd - do we think there's a part of Kane that could be using our interest for an improved contract offer at Spurs?

Actually, I think it’s well known that City don’t go in for huge transfer fees - or, at least, haven’t thus far. That’s United’s gig.

Definitely not. He wants to win things. He stands a far, far better chance of doing that - and doing it regularly - at City.

No question, he wants to leave Spurs.

I don’t think city would risk pissing pep off either? Obviously there is a final amount we won’t go over but there will be a figure that the Kane camp will be aware of that city will pay and it will be up to them to help get the move done as well.
