Harry Kane

Indeed. It was very deliberate. It was the lowest possible figure that wouldn’t have seemed absurd for a player of his quality and importance.

But let’s flip this around for a second. Do you truly believe that Daniel Levy - Daniel fucking Levy - would ever knowingly weaken his position so amateurishly by naming his price at all, let alone a price that he would consider to be two thirds or even half Harry’s true value? It’s simply not credible.

What doesn't seem credible? I'm not sure I get what you think I was trying to say.

If Kane thought it would take 150m+ to sign him, there is no way he would have said 100m in the interview. Or even mentioned any amount at all.

Maybe Harry and Charlie thought it was a cute move to railroad Levy.

I am sure Levy is really feeling the pressure now these masters of applied psychology are working on him.

Whilst acknowledging your years of legal training and experience, please can you clarify this.

City's world class negotiating team are relying on a gentleman's agreement that may or may not exist, no one knows what is in it, there appears to be no witnesses and even if it does exist it is not enforceable.

On the other hand the incompetent Levy has a signed contract, with clear conditions and responsibilities, witnessed and is enforceable.

How does this give City the advantage in the deal?

It doesn't make sense to this thick fucker.
No, it won’t do. I did try to explain simply that it is often a verbal agreement that relies on honour. Let’s say you get a season ticket in your name but you are struggling to pay for it. You get a friend to go halves and agree to split the games. Then the season ticket lands in your name and you tell you mate to fuck off. Your mate has no comeback because the money came out of your account and the ticket is in your name, no evidence. It’s a verbal agreement that relies on honour but you are despicable fork tongued Cnut. Then everyone down the pub wonders why the normally nice, affable bloke is suddenly being an arse to you.

Does that explanation help?

My expectation that Kane will sign for City is falling because I don't see any evidence that Spurs are looking for a striker, presumably this explains Kane's activity and perhaps also explains why City went all in for Grealish.

I'm just guessing of course but the public positions are miles apart. Arguments about what we would do in Levy's shoes get less convincing because their inactions back up their words.

Bit of a cheap trick and poor stunt to pull, if that were the case don't you think? Undermining your chairman that way.

I think there is a bit of dirty laundry happening there, but I doubt the figure is irrelevant or randon.

Why would he feel pressure he doesn’t care about the football side of things? As long as Joe Lewis gets his bag the feelings of supporters or the players are irrelevant.
