I agree that Sterling will be using the argument. I just think that if Haaland came in on a wage much higher than his, then that would strengthen his negotiating position. At the moment the club can argue that they wouldn't get involved in that kind of a deal and pay £crazywages.

Pep wants Kane - and has enormous sway. It's crazy for me that we're still in pursuit of Kane given Levy's ridiculous demands.

RE Haaland - would obviously love to sign him. But I think that this is almost certainly not going to happen in this window. Maybe it will change next season assuming that Haaland doesn't move and assuming that we don't spend a ton of money on a striker this window.

When players are already multimillionaires, it's nothing to do with 'the family and future' but naked greed. This isn't the 1970's when footballers had to supplement what they'd earned by buying a local pub and hoping for the best.

Let's move on from Kane. I laughed when Kane went public and tried to girt City to offer 100 million for himself, knowing full well he was not worth anything like that. Seems his loyalty is to Spurs, which also explains why he won't put in a transfer request. City seem to have been sucked in to this fiasco with us now apparently bidding 125 million for him, and Spurs wanting even more. City needs to stop and take a breath. Kane is not worth 150 million, nor 125 nor 100 million. Let us not forget that he'll have no resale value and has a poor injury record. Walk away City and concentrate on players actually worth that such as Haaland and MBappe who will be coming on the market soon enough.

As there's a silly rumour that certain PL clubs refuse to transfer deal with us. It wouldn't surprise me if Levy accepted a bid from them for around £75 million.

My sense is that Haaland doesn't necessarily want to play for our side. That he hasn't moved this window may have something to do with the financial difficulties facing several top sides - maybe - I think likely - he wanted to play for one of them (Real Madrid).

But if things remain the same going into next season - and we are in position to offer the best deal - I think we'd have a chance to sign Haaland.

Who knows though...
