Harry Kane

You can't use every player turning Spurs down as validation of your opinion on this. Pau Torres turned us down because his boyhood club is about to play CL football so he wants to stay. If we were in the CL too I could maybe see us attracting him but we aren't, so I understand. At the same time for every Torres, there is a Romero who also walked away from CL football and is a superior CB and he joined us because he believes in Paratici's project. There will always be top players who want to join Spurs, not the very best, we need CL football and deep pockets for those, but there will be good players.

There is also nothing unfair about our valuation. Kane is worth 150 million upwards, we are talking about a player who could finish as the highest PL scorer ever in his prime. He's proven at every level. Strikers like Vlahovic are being touted around for 90 million euros who have one single season of scoring goals in a top league. As I say there is nothing unfair about our valuation, that Kane thought we would let him go to another PL club for 100 odd million is laughable and shows how stupid/naive he is. Kane is easily worth 50 million more than Grealish, there is your reference point right there. Grealish won't win you many games on his own, Kane will. Personally I think it's mad you spent so much on Grealish when Kane should have been your priority, but thats just my opinion.

Your comparisons are very self serving. It's easy this.

Lukaku 97.5m is an elite goalscorer. 125m for Kane therefore seems very generous.

Why is it getting closer?
Because there is nothing to suggest it is off and time is running out to do the paperwork. I think Harry will be rolled out before the Arsenal game. I have mixed feelings about the player and the cost but I can't see this not happening as things stand.

You guys are entitled to ask for whatever you want, but the idea that £150m+ is a fair price is crazy talk. If it was a fair price, Kane would already be a City player because City are plenty fair when it comes to paying transfer fees.

You are asking for £50m more than the biggest Prem transfer in history and you talk like it’s nothing… FIFTY FUCKING MILLION. £150m would have been a fair(ish) price 3 years ago, when Kane was mid 20s, Neymar had just happened, clubs had more money pre-COVID and were going mental with it.

Kane is now 28 and collectively, football finances are on their arse. We also have players that want to leave, but we will get a fraction of what Laporte and Bernardo were worth in the market 2 years ago despite both still being top players. We will probably be lucky to get £80m for the pair, but will likely accept that times are different and we have to lower our expectations. Levy and Spurs fans still think it’s 2018.
OrigamiN. Is it possible that you not thinking deeply enough about the likely cost of the cheese emporium in the Spuds plans for the cash for Kane. I’m sure DL will want to resurrect this project with our dollar. And let’s face it, winning the award for the best UK cheddar is the the best chance Spuds have for a trophy.

This is the problem when using player comparisons to reach a valuation. There is always a transfer that works against the principle.

There was a Gobshite Spurs fan on here last week claiming that there should be an England captain tax and all other made up add ons to try and justify the £150+ million valuation.

I'd like to see Txiki play that game. Lets add a 'never won a trophy tax' and deduct 10% of the fee. We can add another 'never played for a top side' tax and reduce the fee by another 10%. I best not forget the 'I no longer want to play for Spurs because their shite tax' and deduct another 20%.

At this rate Spurs should be snapping our hands off for £100 million.

Not really. Kane is better striker full stop and a much better playmaker. Easily worth a fair bit more than Lukaku. Not to mention Inter sold him outside to a foreign club. There is always a PL tax between english clubs.

Look at the bright side this dragging out. Kane is usually shite in August. And the team he’s scored most goals against im sure is Leicester. Our first game in September is …..
He'll break his ankle playing for England (joke before I get jumped on !!!)
