Harry Kane

Things got a bit out of hand earlier so we had to lock the thread for a while and have a bit of a tidy up.

Let’s keep the discussion civil and respectful or you may be thread banned. Thank you.

Dam it - I missed all the stupidity

Everyone needs to relax a little though, this was never going to sail through and the best timelines discussed were always lined up against the arsenal game, chill until then is my advice, most noises being heard are just that - noises, guesses, press conjecture and trying to make headlines in a rolling sports news world.

Although, in UK law, a verbal agreement/contract carries exactly the same weight as a written agreement/contract. Sourcing witnesses is often the stumbling block but, if Levy said to Kane, in front of witnesses; “you can go in the summer of 2021, provided we receive an offer of £X million” and Kane indicated that was fine by him (or, indeed, the other way round), he would win, in a court of law.
Not that that is particularly helpful I suppose..
True, but I think there are several other aspects of contract law by which the claim would probably fail

Kane would have a tough time proving that their “gentleman’s agreement” was intended by both parties to create legal relations. Also don’t think Kane can be said to have offered any consideration to Levy (he was already under contract).

I think gentleman’s agreements are only good for reflecting on a persons trustworthiness or reputation commercially. Might make a few players think twice before signing a long term contract with Levy. But I bet he doesn’t care tbh
