Harry Kane

Levy is helping Chelsea & Liverpool to fight for the league title as he knows perfectly well that Senor Guardiola will not pay the required £150 million by when it will be too late to buy an alternative. We should have upset AVFC even more and snatched Danny Ings from under their noses.

That’s kind of the entire experience of potentially signing Kane for me, if I’m honest.

I’ll be happy Pep’s got the player he wants, and that we’ll actually be able to play a team with a recognised striker again - but I just can’t get any enthusiasm behind this one. No matter how hard I try!
See I started exactly the same. I have been swayed though towards being excited by us getting him. However, scraping the barrel daily for the slightest snipped of news has somewhat sapped any excitement out of it and now it's just become boring and tiresome.

I am looking forward to knowing either way and cracking on when this window has shut.

You don't become the best by bottling out of your targets and settling for second best.

Not sure what to make of all this.
On one hand I feel that we absolutely will sign Kane. Why on earth would we let Agüero leave, hear Khaldoon saying we will replace him, and apparently not even having a backup option for Kane if we wouldn't sign him? Surely our club is not run by idiots, and doing all of this only to end up with no replacement is something only an idiot would do. Therefore he has to sign right?

On the other hand, we have only about a week left of the transfer window. We have known for half a year we need a replacement and we still failed to have one before the season started. Still no reliable rumours about a fee being agreed, and the time is running out. In fact it seems like this transfer is very much relying on whether Levy is willing to make himself look like an complete idiot in the eyes of the public and reduce the price tag with only a few days left of the transfer window.

Not sure what to believe, at this point I just want the window to end so we can focus on the season. But if we end up replacing our clubs top goal scorer of all time with an RW playing out of position and a youth player, someone at the club should be looking for a new job.

Aguero had to go because he wasn’t anywhere near the player he once was. And if he were still with us he’d be with the physio’s and not contributing much apart from taking a squad place and huge wages.

Aguero was replaced last season by a variety of interchangeable false 9’s - it won us the Premier League and the League Cup, it got us to the semi-final of the FA Cup and the final of the Champions League (not too shabby huh?).

Khaldoon didn’t actually say that he’s replace Aguero with another striker.

No our club is not run by idiots but idiots come on here waving their dicks and supposing that they know better than our club.

Oh, and there is no such thing as a reliable rumour until hindsight comes into play - you have to wait for that to happen and you can flap all you like but it doesn’t make it happen any quicker.

I love this forum but it’s barmy.

I am thankfully not ITK so can just come on here and enjoy the ride. I support the club 100% and trust that they will get the best outcome for City, which I suspect/hope will be signing Harry Kane for a shit load of money (cos that’s what top strikers cost). If we do, it will because our Catalan friends will have calculated that we can afford it or that there are plans in place to recoup some of the outlay.

If we sign Kane, this is a big deal and reflects our current standing in world football. In spite of what some people would have us believe, he is just 28. He is younger than Lukaku, he is 5 years younger than Lewandowski and Benzema, 6 years younger than Jamie Vardy , Cavani (and Messi) and 8 1/2 years younger than Ronaldo. He will also set Premier league and England scoring records as a City player and may get a statue of his own by the time he’s finished here.

I’ll be disappointed if it falls through as I’m not sure there is an equivalent Plan B. In time we’ll sign a striker of course but they won’t be our national captain and all that goes with that. If we had to lose an icon like Sergio, signing Kane and Grealish in the same window will go some way to filling the massive Aguero shaped void in the club. Let others worry about the money. The rags and scousers will be secretly gutted, although they will convey this through vitriol and sanctimonious bullshit. ‘Bothered?

Fingers crossed…
