Harry Kane

With regards to Ronaldo, IF we were to ever get involved in trying to sign him, at this point in his career especially, I would seriously question where the club was going. It would be such a short term and needless move and we would be a team all around him - I would rather play Delap all season and give him a chance to learn his trade etc. - no joking.

Erm...right...heard a little bit of info. As always, the disclaimer: there's always a chance info could be wrong, but once again, I trust the person who told me as they work within the game, and they've told me loads before correctly.

They messaged me on Saturday morning saying that they've heard that City want Kane, yes, obviously, but key bit is not as much as Pep personally wants Kane and Pep is very much the driver behind the move. The catch is now apparently that the club would prefer a 'project' striker like Vlahovic.

That's all I've heard. I've don't know the reasoning, so all I can do is my guess - i'd say maybe it's the price? Kane at a reasonable price? Sure? At the numbers quoted? Nah, Vlahovic.

Sorry if that's just a repeat of what is already out in the world, or not - I hand on heart don't as I'm 100% not really sure where we're up to with this Kane stuff as I've been away and intensely busy personally for the last few days! I was getting married when that message came through heh.

As always, just passing it on in good faith to you guys. Fuck knows what will happen. If it's true though that it's mainly a Pep thing, it doesn't really fill me with joy regarding the Kane chances, but who knows I guess.

Seems like someone at the club is thinking long term and maybe about life after Pep.

Even if we eventually get Kane it's good that these discussions are happening about maximising the next 2 years vs setting us up for 7 or 8 years with a striker.

Sounds good but only if we get someone in before the window closes

No I think he'll take £120+30

Daniel Levy's reputation is a complete myth, aggrandised by his mates in the media. He's not some stern businessman who refuses to budge. He's sold loads of players for shit fees and never ever kept a single player who wanted out.
Well said. All this Levy is shrewd stuff is just myth propagated by his pals in the media. This is a man who recruited managers like Andre-Viallas Boas and Tim Sherwood. Levy is the reason why Spurs can't attract any decent players and in that "All or Nothing" TV series he came across as an imbecile.
The press like him because he is good at providing them with posionous private briefings and we have seen plenty of that in the last few months directed at Harry Kane and his brother.
Levy loves to conduct his business in public because he likes to massage his ego. His role is just to keep Joe Lewis happy at all costs.
If Levy was a really smart operator he would have done a secret deal directly with Lewis and Khaldoon before the Euros for perhaps £130m cash up front and then made some astute signings to strengthen Spurs well in time for the season. Nothing would have been in the media till it was announced. If a player wants to leave then you move them on for the good of the whole club.

I 100% trust you info but this is actually good news.

I think the club are maybe starting to realise that Kane's valuation won't come down to a reasonable price so they are looking at alternatives either as contingency or in order to drive Kane's price down in negotiations.

Fine with me if we sign Vlahović.

Yeah, same. Sounds like that to me too. I would argue that for a club record transfer to get done, you're probably gonna need everyone pulling in the same way, so this may be a blow for the Kane hopes, but maybe im wrong.

I would like to add that this person isn't a bullshitter btw. I've asked them many times if they knew about Kane while chatting about Grealish and they said they honestly hadn't heard anything either way. They got in touch with me for the first time when they heard sumat, coincidentally as they were passing on their congrats ahead of my wedding day lol.

That's my point my friend. If City didn't know surely they should have?
CFG was formed to globalise football trading in shirts and their number value among other things.
Matt puts it down to "Typical City" but maybe we value JG better than Mr Kane in the 10 shirt.
What do you think?
Sorry, I meant they didn't think it was an issue as shirt numbers came up and no one from Kanes camp put any particular request in.

Obviously I don't know either way but you'd have thought if it was really important to Kane then they would have pushed the point rather than presume anything.

We just need a centre forward with a decent touch who can arrive in the box for all the sodding crosses and clever cut backs we currently make. At the moment we create chance after chance with our brilliant midfield and there's no one at the end of them to finish. Can't be too much to ask. Surely the club have data on likely candidates. You know like we chased Kolibaly and Napoli were being the usual tossers so went for Dias at the end. Turned out pretty well.

Not too bothered if Kane doesn't sign. We can always use the money in the January window. Meanwhile, Levy can continue on his mission to drive Tottenham towards bankruptcy. Even £120m is absolutely obscene money in the present time.

Cheers for the info. I hope we go with what Pep wants here. We bought Jesus as a project and Torres. Sometimes you just have to go out and get the finished article.
