Harry Kane

If you accurately heard that 100m was our limit, then I could see a club going over that to REALLY push through a deal.

But nobody goes 50% over their "limit", wouldn't really have been their limit at all then right?

I can't remember City ever really going above and beyond for a player, we have seen over the past seasons that we have pulled out of deals if the Finances didn't fit perfectly (Sanchez), and especially in a covid season with dire financials across Europe, I don't see any chance that the Kane deal happens.

We can easily persist with Ferran, Sterling, Jesus, or a false 9 in the striker position. We did pretty well last season, the only thing that stopped us going from 2 -> 4 trophies was an inform Chelsea side.

Missing too many chances stopped us. If we’d had Kane or Haaland last season we’d have won the lot. We don’t want a repeat of needing 20 chances to score one goal.

City haven't needed to go above a certain limit previously because we got ten years device out of players like Vinny, Sergio and Silva.

All three of those players ten years younger would be all £100m in today's market.

I also disagree re sticking with what we have got up top. Teams will work it out, be more prepared.

I'm addition, I don't believe Torres is good enough for that level of scoring responsibility, while Jesus and Sterling were only bailed out last season because Gundo had his best-ever scoring campaign, in addition to Foden and Mahrez also weighing in.

I doubt City have really divulged their real limit, because then there's nowhere to go, there's always extra, just like buying a house.

Personally, I'd go to £150m if that's what it takes to get the top striker we need.

Kane really impressed me last night, his entire game is suited to what Pep wants, a selfless individual, dragging defenders into midfield, contributing assists.

I really see a potent mix having all our intelligent runners going beyond him.
We saw that last night when Foden came on, could have been put through on more than one occasion, however, we chose to recycle possession.

Fair enough, I thought you were more in the know about 100m being the limit.

Personally, still can't see City going to 150m, regardless of whether we had the privledge of Aguero, Silva etc. In this covid market we aren't going to get there.

As for people "Figuring out" the false 9, it wasn't really figured out last season considering how close we were to 4 trophies.

Having Gundogan, Foden and Mahrez all chipping in is what made that season successful, completely relying on one striker to score all the goals is far easier to "Figure out" than a fluid attack that has everyone pitch in. Gonna have to agree to disagree on this point.

£100m is what the club want to get out there, I happen to think we always have something in reserve.

this is a very good point

any good striker in this city team would score goals so do we splash big on kane or haaland
maybe city could use a trick themselves and sign danny ings who would score 20 goals easy in this team
then lets see how spurs or dortmund feel after missing out on £100million and i have a feel they would come back and take our offer
Danny Ings at (say) £30m tops in this daft market, saves £70m - £120m, for probably no more than 10 goals fewer than Kane in a season, and he'll graft in support of the midfield.
The assists take care of themselves in our team.
The sooner people like Levy realise that City aren't a soft touch, the better.
In my opinion, no current player is worth more than double our current transfer record. Not Kane, not Haaland, not Mbappe... no-one.
Sign Ings for 3 years, work on bringing Delap through, and tell Kane and Levy to bugger off.

£150 million....? They must think we're stupid.

I don't think there is another club in the marketplace we need to fear on reddy cash this summer.
What I can’t quite comprehend, although I know it’s just your opinion, but surely to god if we were prepared to splash £150mil on a forward then we may as well go and offer it to Dortmund for Haaland.

I don't think city will go much above 100m for kane but I'm thinking they might just think its worth the risk. England captain who just might lift a major trophy for England the exposure the club would get off kane might just pay the extra we may get quoted.

I have reached the conclusion that Haaland has somewhere else in mind and that Pep's first choice has been Kane all along.

That's based on a couple of things of late, one being told that City had approached Spurs last summer for Kane and then came again in January.

That doesn't strike me as City just covering their arse on Haaland, who had been giving us very positive feedback even just a couple months back.

If anything, it sounds like Haaland has been the fall back sounding out in case Kane wasn't a goer.

I think Haaland and Mbappe would be worth pretty much whatever their clubs ask for, especially given both have around ten seasons left as top strikers. We wouldn’t need to sign a striker for another ten years! They also have very high marketing potential for the club.

Kane less so, as although he’s as good a goal scorer his age dictates that he won’t be for as long, so in two or three years we’ll be in the same position looking for a world class striker. He’d still be worth around £100m for the goals he would bring for the next two or three seasons though.

Ings is shit and unless we‘ve given up the ambition to win the title and CL he shouldn’t even be in consideration. Southampton, Villa, Everton, West Ham is his level.
