Harry Kane

Spurs need to rebuild and can't make good use of the money on more than one or two players, coupled with servicing the present running costs at the club.

There is chatter United might be willing to offer Martial, Henderson and Lingard, plus £40m, because they can't afford the numbers involved.

Surely that only values the deal for Spurs at £45m, tops!

Spurs are that small-time, they might even take that type of deal.
All that becomes irrelevant if Kane is only interested in city. If he is even open to discussing a move to United then we will pull out imo as we won’t get involved in any bidding war nor will we be able to compete with the players united offer. Kane needs to do what Mahrez did and ignore everyone else and it will get done

Those united players would have to say yes as well to the swap deal, this isnt Fifa, there are agents involved, wages etc
Problem with this forum is that alot think that Fifa is real lol.....
1) Ake to Spuds...they wouldn't pay same wages, got loads of defenders and he'd win fuck all.....won't happen in a million years!
2)Jesus to Spuds.....May pay him ok,plays off a natural striker like Son, need to replace a CF would win fuck all...won't happen in a million years!
3) Henderson/Martial/Linguard....not unless Lloris leaves/thinks he's better than that/without Kane probably better off at W/Ham.....win fuck all, won't happen in a million years.
4) They haven't even got a manager....who would want any of them.
5) ....just forget all this swap deal nonsense, very rarely happens anyway.

I agree with the majority but I wouldn't rule out a player going the other way. Maybe not in a straight swap but in a way of us paying a lower fee for their player and they getting the same with one of ours.

Same happened with Danilo/Cancelo and Otamendi/Dias I believe.

True, but Danilo wasn't going to juve to win fuck all....and Otamendi was at end of career and not going to play for us, or go to a top league and win.

Yeah, valid points. I do think we underestimate playing time, though. Ake will never be a starter here and Jesus will be seeing a new striker come in after playing second fiddle to Aguero for so long. The natural progression of him being the successor won't be happening.

Personally, I'd love to see him play out wide and be kept.

So I have a very speculative theory that Mourinho being sacked is what triggered this.

Mourinho has a prototypical forward that he likes to work with, and he did wonders in terms of developing Kane into that forward. Under Mourinho Kane went from being a great goalscorer with very decent all-round skills to being a much more complete striker who still scores a lot. His hold up play, counter attacking, and creative game have all improved by a big measure and it's really had him move up a level. I think Kane was well aware of this.

I think that's a large reason as to why Kane was the only player said to be a Mourinho ally. Because he was the one player that actually made big steps forward under him. Now that he got sacked, Kane's no longer got room to develop.

Of course, you could say that he was always going to want to leave Mourinho or not. But I honestly think that with Mourinho continuing to improve him he would have been more patient, at least until he plateaued. I don't think he anticipated this jump in ability last summer when it was speculated that he first started weighing up the idea of leaving.

“If” we pay £100m+ for Kane at least we’ll know where our huge loses come from last season.
We’ve spent it on crack.

There’s no doubt he’d improve us so the main question is price. At £70m it’s a no brainer. At £170m, no brain.

I’m sure the lukewarm response on here is largely down to the expectation Levy will demand silly money.

Other crucial factors: (a) the likelihood or otherwise of getting Haaland, and (b) what more desperate clubs are willing to spunk up.

£110m + £20m in add ons is probably not far off.

Also another thing to factor is that Kane seems desperate to join, I don't get this impression from Haaland. By all accounts this is a factor City value hugely.

We have no idea how desperate Kane is to move, or whare for that matter. Same with Haaland.

Agree, Haaland's agent will make more of a show of it with everyone seeming interested as thats his thing, doesnt mean though that he isnt keen, behind the scenes.

People need to understand, the financial viability of this transfer will be decided by the professionals running this club. We’re not being run by a bunch of amateurs who are going to get owned by a chancer like Levy.
