Harry Kane

This is why I keep banging on about Declan Rice, he can cover that fourth centre back role if required, would allow Rodri or Gundogan to be rested without weakening the starting eleven, and has bags of potential to improve working with Pep. A no brainer of a signing imo but I’m a bit of a lone voice at the moment. On the bright side I was a bit of a lone voice regarding the signing of Harry Kane a few weeks ago so I live in hope...
I dont think you are remotely a lone voice,Rice is superb and thats the problem.....he probably pushes Rodri to one side, and then there is Dinho's extension and the pathway for Lavia possibly being compromised.

Well that’s a novel argument against signing a player, he’s too good

Boubacar Kamara would also be able to do that role, we were linked to him yesterday so maybe it's not a million miles away from the club's thinking. I think it's for next summer though, post Fern and when either Aké or Laporte have probably had enough sitting on the bench.

My point is given our current options we dont need him,or do you think different?
Need him? No. I think we should identify an excellent young player with bags of potential and bring him in to work with Pep before we reach the stage that we are in desperate need of strengthening that position. Fernandinho is coming to the end. Four centre backs is proving difficult to accommodate. Rodri’s form has been patchy. Rice solves all these problems and brings plenty to the table on his own right. Plus, if we don’t sign him someone else will. A no brainer imo.

Cant see a deal without player swaps tbh, just dont think we'll pay that much cash based on recent precedent. maybe something like 90 mil in cash plus Jesus and Ake. I reckon sterling is worth a bit more so much you could do sterling plus 40 mil. Not sure if raz would want to go to spurs tho lol.
We are not rebuilding their squad for them lol

Yes, but it's not like we have a spare 100m down the back of the sofa, is it? We can't afford to spend record fees in positions where we have no pressing need, just because we like the look of a player.

Conte now officially out of inter and I assume he is going to spurs. Great appointment for them will be interesting to see if he can persuade Kane to stay. Gonna be a very telling few weeks before the euros

According to SSN Spurs want a manager that’s nice and cuddly and that’s not Conte.
So reading between the lines - they want a yes man.

Lukaku now available apparently, would be cheaper than Kane at 75 million euros

Conte off to Madrid apparently always wanted the job

Yeah, Phil Jones was a no-brainer, too.

I’m finding all this talk about Kane and £100 million very sad to be honest. One of the plus points about City is that yes, we have spent big money, but we have spent it wisely.

£100 million plus for a 28 year old is not a wise move, and neither is £80 million and a 24 year old Gabriel Jesus as a part-ex deal.

I’d prefer it if we stayed true to our recent strategy, buy good, young players, not an old guy with dodgy ankles who thanks to Covid19 and the Euros in 2 weeks and a World Cup in 2022 might well be burned out by age 30/31.

Can I also add this: wasn’t it great at the weekend to celebrate ten years of the legendary Sergio Aguero? Would we get ten years out of Harry Kane??? No, I doubt we’d get five.

Furthermore, because I know some people may say money’s no barrier to City, but if we spent £100 million plus on a 28 yr old Harry Kane it would just provide ammunition for the haters who say we buy our success. Currently, with our record signing I think being sixty-five million, we can say yes we do spend money, but not silly money (like on Vandervalk or Pogbad) instead we build team spirit and have good coaching and I prefer it to stay like that.
