Harry Kane

Would still personally prefer Haaland, but it’s not like we get to pick and choose. Either transfer is going to be extremely difficult to pull off. I’d be delighted if we get either, as they’d both strengthen the squad greatly. Still quite plausible that we get neither though, but that wouldn’t necessarily be a disaster either. Must remember last summer when everyone had their hearts set on Koulibaly or Kounde, yet Dias has exceeded all expectations.
Totally agree but it would be a huge risk trying to get in another striker that has to essentially get 20 goals at the very least. It's a tough ask, and a much bigger risk than getting a centre half like last year, where we at least made sure the bases were covered first.

It's so critical that we get a striker this year that I can only assume we are currently talking to at least 1 or 2 other serious options beyond Kane and Haaland..

Why do we need a striker who has to get 20 at the very least? We won the league/cup and reached final/semi pretty much without one at all.
It would obviously best to get the best however, I don't want him/them particularly, but in our side (injuries permitting) Ings would comfortably score 20 as would Calvert Lewin//Watkins/Lacazzette/Ihenacho/Wilson and probably a couple more.
My point being...that there is too much panic about needing someone to top the scoring charts, I think we will sign someone off the radar who will bag 20 at most.....but be a better technical player than the above, simply because we won't pay money for Kane (who would score few more AND is technically far better).

Haaland wouldnt stay for 8-10 years though anyway? He wants to play in Spain at least in his career as well? Plus imagine he scores a shit load in two years then mino would be hunting a big pay rise and stirring the shit etc? With Kane you get a calm professional experienced world class player who is settled in England and knows at the prime of his career he will be fighting for titles straight away? No brainer imo.
If Haaland came and was successful , you will have Riaola knocking on our door ever 12 months looking for improved terms or the threat of moving on the player, too much aggravation.

As you say, Kane would appear to be far less maintenance and would also little or no time to settle into the team/league.

exactly! we had that shit with yaya and his agent!

Can see both sides of the argument for either Kane or Haaland

Will be happy with either

To think our club can realistically sign the worlds best is a privilege in itself
I agree with this. I wonder if there is a scenario where we get Lewandowski for this coming season and then go for Haaland for a reduced fee next season?
Suppose it’s too risky. I’d be happy if we get K

Castles is reporting we have made a bid for Kane

He is not. He mentioned in a podcast that a bid had already been made. There is a difference, in that the latter is not news of anything new happening.

The expectation is very much that we will sogn a huge name player, given aguero leaving, a hole there and Khaldoon's comments.

The above however would hardly be surprising. Pep himself said therevwas no rush, panic, or need to spend the insane amounts asked. Sure, part of that is posturing a message. But part is also pep being honest as usual, and confident in both his squad and heirarchy.

I find this thread, the Haaland thread and the Txiki blinders thread all compulsive reading but I have to say that they have done nothing whatsoever to help me to a clearer view of what will, or even might, happen in the transfer window! Affairs seem so chaotic in Spanish football at the moment that I'm inclined to think that the most likely arrival at the Etihad is Messi himself! And I am serious. When it comes to a centre forward I take serious note of Ric's reminder that last season we hardly considered Dias as a possibility until he arrived and this could always be the case with a replacement for Sergio - someone we haven't really considered. More likely is a serious bid for one of "the big two" but which one ....??? I've always wanted Haaland: I suspect it might be Kane. Hardly a disaster if it is! The problem is that little leaks out of City (apart from emails of course!) and when we then try to guess what is going on in Haaland's head, his father's, his agent's, the bloke at Dortmund, Harry Kane's, Levy's ... and all the other members of the circus I think I'm better just leaving it to Txiki & Co and logging on to the official website to see who's in the squad next August who wasn't last September and who isn't in the squad who was a year ago. And then I can stick to the football.

Pep has too much respect for the hierarchy to ever speak out of turn publicly regardless of what happens in a transfer window. He will always back the players he has and will never bring a private disagreement into the public domain in the way that other managers do.

All the transfer bollocks, its basically gossip. Making sense of, or believing anything that's being said by self proclaimed "itk" is ridiculous, about 90% of it is absolute bollocks.

Apparently pep is interested in Ramos according to transfer speculation last week hahaha Wtf.

You would think there would be more information out there. We know Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Der Spiegel like to keep tabs on our emails and other systems. Undoubtedly Borussia Dortmund like to know the status of our Academy players and have somebody stationed outside the campus with a puppy and a packet of wine gum. Surely there should be more leaks?

Right now & for the next 5 years of Pep then Harry Kane gives City everything they need

He will score for fun & it will take that shit penalty miss away

Just think of all those Mahrez crosses into the box & corners Kane is perfect

I recon Pep will build 3 teams this still being No 2 adding Kane & Greslish

Next year someone like Declan Rice & LB then we are set for Peps final years

Delap will take over from Kane we have our own star
