Some fair points but people are sleeping on the LB position yet again...its like an Achilles heel that is protruding a yard out.

has it? Didn't seem like a problematic position this season, not as much as the striker position and perhaps someone in the david silva role (which persumably would be grealish)

To be fair it's not Salford Blue who's goin on as though Peter Swales is still in charge. If our owners think we can't afford the transfer we wouldn't be doing it(if we are).

Thats some goalpost shift...but ok.

We haven't spent beyond a certain amount per player as of yet...maybe thats why. Its meant we haven't had to spread our budget so thin we cant reinforce positions in need.

That changes when we start paying mega money for players...and ones without the age profile on their side.

Listen i'm not saying i'm against big single spending, in fact its something we could (should perhaps) have done before...but to trivialise the idea of doing it for a player with age against him is foolhardy imo. Especially with the "its not my money" line.

Imagine we pay 150mil and he has a form destroying injury. At nearly 30 the ability to recover from some things isn't as great for example. Anyway enough hypotheticals from me...my point is simply that we should care how we spend.

To be fair i'd put my money on us going in on the last day with a 100mil take it or leave it offer. Which would sit ok with me.

I think we’ve done fine over the years with our spending,every now and then you have to open the purse strings and the time is now we are so fuckin desperate for a top class striker and they don’t come much bigger than Kane

Its a weakness. Anyone watching zinny in the final could still see it. We've slipped under the radar at LB purely down to sitting much deeper for much of the season.

I mean you've swerved my points but fair enough you're entitled to your opinion mate.

For the record I too obviously think we have done fantastically well this past 10 years...but letting sergio walk so easy when he was looking deadly again don't sit right with me when we clearly didn't already have something tied up(like MANY on here assumed we did). I know it may well have been a statement to whomever was potentially coming in to replace serg, but i think its just given power to the selling club ultimately.

Anything over 100m for kane and we've had our pants not only pulled down, but ripped off prison rape style.

I think we can manage the lb situation , more worried about replacing Dinho. Any good team needs that 'enforcer' in CM. We had it with NDJ, although much as I love him it was like employing a bouncer. We missed him inho until viera - lost count of how many times he came on in the last half hour to make sure of the points. We were then a bit stuck until we got Dinho. I accept the need for a striker, acknowledge Kanes stats, and that one of our problems is conversion of 6-12 yard chances, but we have other issues to solve too.

Yes but if the choice is Kane or a lb, we need Kane more. Zin can hold his own and we have plenty to cover the position. Put away half the chances we create and we won’t need a dm or a lb ;)

That may be the case if we assumed there was no other striker talent in world football able to more reliably finish from 6-12 yards out than gabby...which i would argue there certainly is.

We won the league last season without kane, desperation is not something that should be associated with us anywhere outside of LB imo.

Daka would have been worth a punt with the idea of letting gabby go in 12 months for example. Then try for haaland or some other prospect(even kane at nearly 29 for much less money).

Why buy second rate when the best is longing to join? The fee is ridiculous I agree. In 12 months it will be seen as excellent business. Spend now win now. Lb no worries we have Mendy!
