If Kane did have a gentleman's agreement with Levi that he would be allowed to leave if Spurs were crap and a big bid came in from a contender team then he is justified in his actions.

Spurs fans can be unforgiving though - see Sol Campbell - so he will be demonised. I guess the truth will come out in his autobiography after he hangs up his boots. Hopefully it will be a short chapter prefacing those about his trophy winning glory years as a City player :)
