Not necessarily, It's more of just a way to get people talking, They could easily bring someone else in to play alongside Kane or back up to Kane. If we don't meet Tottenham valuation of Kane the deal doesn't happen regardless.

I would be more inclined to think Bernardo leaving City would be a step forward in the Kane pursuit if their is £20m-£30m in the difference, We are the ones who need to stump up the cash.

No point draining yourself. If Kane joins so be it. Our squad is more than capable of winning another title and going all the way in the Champions League without Kane.
Not if it is 20-30m well over what the club want to pay for him. If they were prepared to do that, probably would have done so in June. Theynare holding out because they expect Levy compromise. Or if it is all agreed as some think, then it really is a case of waiting for their replacement to arrive, in which case it is logical to keep an eye on that.

Levy has a price on Kane and if that price isn't met by a club then Kane stays, No matter what else happens of incoming and out goings at Tottenham they want the value of Kane. Let's be honest you can't blame them really, Kane was stupid enough to sign a 6 year contract in his peak with no buyout clause. Absolute idiot and seriously badly advised.
