I don't have a problem with it in and of itself but these comments always seem completely superficial. See Hector Bellerin talking about absolutely anything outside of football.

And that's before we get into the fact that virtually none of the players, managers, journalists and fans were looking to "shine a light" on Russia four years ago, Brazil four years before that or South Africa four years before that.

It just comes across as someone regurgitating something the public want to hear, rather than speaking from the heart.

Yeah, you’re probably right. It would be good if there were a few players who spoke openly on things though and weren’t all like media trained sheep.

Why is no-one interested in making sure that FIFA get caught in the spotlight? Surely footballers should want to analyse FIFA's role in all this, in view of the long history of dodgy world cup hosts!

I’m in the middle here. Kane’s utterances were undoubtedly well meant but England players are clearly following a party script.
