Harry Maguire

If we buy Maguire, i can see him being absolutely torn to pieces against higher quality in the Champions league. No wumming, i am just telling it how it is.

Surely there are better options, surely?!
What I seem to remember is, you telling us in January 18, that United had our pants down over Sanchez and we should try and battle with the big boys on transfers.
You also derided the management team for making serious errors in letting him go.
Now here we are 18 months later and we have a situation where the player would rather come to City, even accept a smaller pay off, than have to go to the footballers graveyard that Old Trafford has become. And again we have got it wrong, he’ll be torn to pieces. Perhaps he should go to United instead?

It seems to me that what ever Manchester City decide to do it falls under your negative stare.

1976 was a good year.

City's current defence got torn to shreds at Lyon away and home to Spurs in the Champs league, so Harry will be in good company.

Which is exactly why we need an equivalent of Van Dijk to stop it from happening again.

Just pay the big money and get Koulibaly. Forget Maguire.

I think some people are missing the point. With Delph probably leaving, we could do with another association-trained homegrown player, to allow us to maintain our squad depth. Centre back is an area we need to buy, with Kompany gone and Otamendi surely leaving either this window or next summer, during which we’d be in the middle of a transfer ban. So Maguire ticks a lot of boxes. He takes us back up to the maximum number of association-trained players we can register, plus covering us in a position we are going to be lacking in during the transfer ban if we did nothing this window.

So whilst I get that it doesn’t wow anybody, it’s a signing that should tell us that the club are planning for the future very well.

Good point and understand the HG issue but let's be honest Stones and Maguire as our CB's does concern me greatly..

I am allowed to have an opinion.

90% of Pep's signings have been very good, but 10% haven't been good at all. Bravo and Nolito spring to mind. I just hope he improves massively if we sign him because he isn't a patch on a half fit Kompany.

Everyone is ENTITLED to an opinion on here! That opinion though is watching him in a none PEP side! Laporte and Stones are not fast!

Can't comment that much on Maguire , but with stones , the guy starts well every season , but so far combination of injury and personal issues fades away , so much so that pep didn't trust him in the run in despite being fit.

Tolmie said he is also due an extension contract , think this season is very cruical for him
