Laporte is a different level to both Stones and Maguire.

It's not a crime to want another defender on the same level as Laporte.

What I seem to remember is, you telling us in January 18, that United had our pants down over Sanchez and we should try and battle with the big boys on transfers.
You also derided the management team for making serious errors in letting him go.
Now here we are 18 months later and we have a situation where the player would rather come to City, even accept a smaller pay off, than have to go to the footballers graveyard that Old Trafford has become. And again we have got it wrong, he’ll be torn to pieces. Perhaps he should go to United instead?

It seems to me that what ever Manchester City decide to do it falls under your negative stare.


1976 was a good year.

I honestly thought Alexis Sanchez would have been a superb signing for us. He was amazing at Arsenal. The money and the lucrative contract has killed his progress and I honestly still believe Sanchez under Pep would have been brilliant.

Sanchez doesn't turn into a bad player over night, but he turned into a lazy, money grabber at United with no motivation. Sometimes we, as fans will say bad things and it will turn out right, just as much as we will say something great and it ends up a wrong move. That's football, nothing is guaranteed.

I just can't see how Maguire will progress in a City side. I hope he does but from what I've seen he doesn't have the quality that Laporte beings and that's what we should be aiming for. We have to back pep and we'd be right in doing so, but he's made mistakes in his career when he brought Chygrynskiy in at Barcelona to solve their defensive crisis. Every manager gets things wrong.
Pep wanted Fred, and posters on here (most of whom who hadn't seen him) were telling us what a world class player he was and he can't get in a struggling Man United team. That's not to say he would have been a failure or a success at City, because we don't know but he doesn't look anywhere near the level we should have been looking at, even though Pep thought he was.

If Maguire signs and he somehow becomes World Class for us I would be the first to hold my hand up and wax lyrical over him.

Good point and understand the HG issue but let's be honest Stones and Maguire as our CB's does concern me greatly..

They nearly got to the World Cup Final together ;) Have faith!

Plus, Laporte will play most of the time, and if he stays one more year, we have Otamendi too. We don’t have to play them together if it’s that much of a worry.
