Harry Maguire

We were discussing here , the merit of getting Maguire over de ligt would be down to wages and agent fee that pizza boy is demanding.

That's why this sounds BS to me . If this were anywhere near the truth , we would no doubt be looking at De Ligt more seriously given the total fees for both would be similar
The difference that people seem to be forgetting is De Ligt is deciding for himself where he wants to play, there’s fuck all we can do if he chooses Juve, or Barca etc.

With Maguire, the guy wants to play for us.

The journalists wording is deliberately crafted to suggest that the only reason he want to join is is for the money.
I know but I let them idiots go a while back they will take any opportunity to disparage are potential signings. Just wait until he makes his first mistake he ll get the full on Stones treatment from the press. It ll be the fans job to not get sucked in but on reading quite a few posts today its looking like a fair few of are fans will be giving Maguire a run for his money.

Why fall for this media bullshit, they hate us and have inflated the fee plus wages to make us look like rich bully boys , we’ll sign Maguire who is an excellent player & help us deal with more physical teams , good in the air & can bring the ball out ...£65m & around £150,000 a week , another good deal by City.

By the same token all those are top teams , who want de ligt. For Maguire - there only one TOP team - us. So not much of an option for him.

This, and if and when maguire does actually sign for us,this will be the narrative used by the hacks, and the majority of football fans will believe it,again all about painting us in bad light

Only 7 mins added on time, was expecting at minimum 10mins,premier league games running on until 100 mins plus next season for some games..oops wrong thread..

It's strange how many seem to be preoccupied with how much the transfer fee may be or how much he may get in wages.
It's not our money and whatever we pay won't change amid any concerns raised.
At the end of the day it's not actually certain that he is coming, likely but not certain.
1000% correct, people need to stop saying this much that much you ain't paying I aint paying it's the sell8ng clubs priority to get as much as possible so just let it go

Just to caveat, the Daily Mirror is without a doubt, the worst outlet in the country for actual accurate transfer news.

They now cross share with Daily Star and the Express, just to further underline how truly awful they are.

The reports on Maguire and Rodri start with the words "poised to" and "set to"

Classic couching in the profession and code for guessing.

As for £280k a week, we aren't even prepared to pay less for De Ligt.
It's the same scumbags who reported early in the week City set to win the race for Maguire as UTD only go 45m, it's embarrassing..

I think the main reason for looking to sign Maguire in particular is purely his aerial prowess. He’s a titan at corners both defensively and offensively. I’d say this is the only real weakness we have. If we can strengthen both we should score more and concede less, which is a good recipe.

If we lose the ball more from his poorer short passing or he drops too deep to cover his lack of pace, we could score less and concede more.

Just playing devils advocate.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d prefer De Ligt, and more importantly I’d prefer Koulibaly, however I understand the logic we are employing.

I’ve no doubt whatsoever we are “in” for De Ligt, but we are keeping quiet as we wouldn’t want Maguire to think he’s second choice if De Ligt chooses to go elsewhere.

The advantage with Harry is obviously the home grown side of things, consequently I’m all for it. I rate the guy and think he will be great for us.
