Hart

Not at all, for 12 years he's been glued to the line. Fuck sake, you mightn't want to see it but he comes off the line many times, and doesn't when he knows he wont win the wall.
He has a football brain and knows how to read it, Hart doesn't.
He will come for the crosses he can win, Hart just throws himself hoping, Given wont risk it when there are players who are in a better position to win the ball.

Hart is trying to control the box? Trying being the word, because he isn't doing a great job of it at times.

There's a time where he needs to see what he can and can't do. If he can't do it by now, he wont be able to do it at all. Not really. You need these fundamental basics down at a certain age or it doesn't really work.

Given knows that he wont make a cross that a taller keeper might, but he doesn't let that impact on his game, despite what some CITY fans (of all people) try to say.

Hart doesn't see his limitations, which you may saw his confidence, but it's arrogance, which is fine when you're a kid, but not at 23/24.
And he is arrogant and cocky and it impacts on his game. He is over confident, and you're right, you can't teach confidence but you can build it, what you cannot teach is an understanding of the game, and a football brain, and Hart sadly doesn't have it, and the longer he stays in the game, the more clear that will become.

Hart is a good keeper, but IMO I can't see for the life of me, why he's ahead of Given, the only thing that he has on his side is age, and if he wasn't "the future" and the same age as Given, Hart wont not be starting.

If you say so. The fact you're saying CITY fans (of all people) should support Given, whilst moaning about a goalkeeper who's playing very well for us in the main says it all to me. I know Given has a large fan base and I know he's been an excellent goalkeeper for a long time but he's not the right goalkeeper for us now and it would be better for everyone if he left, preferably in the summer.

He will leave and I hope to God we don't screw him over because he's too good to waste his talent at a low league team.
He is not the future of the club and that's the sad point.

Hart made a howler that Given wouln't have made
And I'll make the equally unsubstantiated claim that Hart would never neglect his duty by fucking his team up like this:

Hart, like Given and every other goalkeeper on the planet, will make expensive mistakes from time to time. You really need to get over your obsession with Given. Nice guy and good goalkeeper, but he isn't our future and quite rightly won't ever be, no matter how much you keep banging on about the same old shit. Once we get a replacement lined up he can go and you lot can move on to whatever forums Aston Villa or Blackburn Rovers have up and running.

The way I saw it was Hart's fumble which led to the goal was as a consequence of Toure's unnecessary diversion of the ball, which was clearly going directly to Hart. Had Kolo left or properly cleared the ball then there would be no Hart fukup.

Give the guy a break, mistakes happen. He's generally been top notch this season.

That was the ONE and only bad mistake I can remember Given making, other than that, he is not error prone.
That was an unfortunate mistake from Given who didn't see the player behind him, Hart made a howler as he went and tried to actually win the ball and made a howler while doing so.
Given is too old (though when a keeper is at their best) for City, they have made that clear. Too good for the City bench, I agree. Hopefully City wont screw him over and let him go to whatever club he wants, because he deserves better.

The reason Given doesnt make howlers is because he is the most conservative, play it safe keeper in the Prem. How many headers flew past him from 3 yards last season while he picked his arse on the line? Hart is the best keeper in the Prem and because he has supreme confidence in his ability he will make the odd howler but he will more than make up for it at other times eg that wonder save from RVP on Wednesday! We have the best defensive record in the prem and that is largely down to now having a World class keeper! Given is a myth and done at City......thankfully!

Rahart, you think what you like about what I posted but if you go and read the 2 posts I made, I never slagged off Given far from it infact.

I posted around page 6 when the thread was up originally and then page 8 today.

I said my piece on the Irish view point because that is what it is, biased national opinion.

Where a I think you will find most but not all of us English cunts couldnt give a flying fuck about team Ingurland and really only care for one team my friend.

I defended the Irish when a certain poster went over the top racially but not today.

I will say it again for you, Hart and Given are gifted in different areas but we had to choose one and one has 15 years left bar injury and the other has 2/3 and is probably going to prove prone to that shoulder injury again.

A quick check on the web and I found this from the Gunners

<a class="postlink" href="http://desigunner.wordpress.com/2010/02/26/shay-given-shows-hes-not-got-enough-for-arsenal/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://desigunner.wordpress.com/2010/02 ... r-arsenal/</a>

Shay Given shows he's not good enough for Arsenal

I feel this season we have seen unprecedented complaints against our keepers. All three of them have come under scrutiny and have received widespread criticism. As regular readers will have noticed, I have defended our keepers time and again. The point I always made was that anyone who comes under that kind of pressure and who plays in a team with overall defending issues will make mistakes. No matter who we buy, the keeper cannot and will not work magic for Arsenal.

Many of the critics in the media and the blogosphere have this ill conceived notion that buying someone like Shay Given would have solved all our problems. I like Given as a goalkeeper but I don’t see him as our savior.

Over the last couple of weeks Man City have played Stoke thrice. It is worth observing Given’s performances in these games. At this point I will confess that I haven’t seen any of these games live but the highlights do have a story of their own.

The first game was an FA Cup home tie that City should have won comfortably. I’m not saying this based on the match but on the fact that they have spent millions and have Shay Given. After all, those are the great solutions some expert Arsenal fans have put forward. You can see the highlights on this link.

City were on their way to the next round thanks to some sloppy work by Sorenson (another one we should have bought) and Shawcross. But just before the hour mark Given brought Stoke back into the game. Around two and half minutes into the highlights you can see Fuller’s goal from a Delap throw. Given was half way in his six yard box when the throw was taken and inexplicably went backwards to the goal line instead of coming for the ball. Reminds you of Almunia, Fabianksi, Mannone?

The next game between the teams was a league tie at the Brittania. This game also ended in a stalemate and Given cost City two points. On this link you can see the Whelan goal. It reminds me of Fabianski’s error against Porto, only the angle was different.

Finally, in the FA Cup replay, City were dumped out in extra time. Taking the advice of some arsenal fans, City owners have spent millions and even changed managers but it’s not taken them anywhere.

Anyway, on this link you can see the highlights from that game. Around the tenth minute in this video, Delap fires in a throw and Given comes for it this time but flaps at thin air. Shawcross heads it home. Once again reminding us he is no better than Almunia, et al.

Interestingly, just before the throw is taken the commentator says, “…chaos has ensued almost every time he has flung it in.” Not words you expect to hear when in the goal there is a superman goalkeeper who is supposed to solve all our problems, are they?!

While we are on the subject of Given, this is the link for one of the most famous bloopers of all time. Apologies for the quality. Just goes to show that young keepers can make mistakes and it’s stupid to discard them based on those.

If I apply the same yardstick as the critics of our keepers do then in just a couple of weeks, Given has forced his team into an FA cup replay, lost two points in the league and then got the team dumped out of the FA Cup. Food for thought, if thinking is your thing!

I am not trying to say that Given is a bad keeper and our keepers are fantastic. It’s important to have the right perspective when analyzing a football game. Arsene was right when he said goalkeeper was the toughest position. Every mistake is a catastrophe. But the solution is never as simple as buying a new one!

Lads its the main talking point of the match. Thats the only reason WHY I bumped the tread up again. To say I have been waiting for Hart to make a mistake so I can slaughter him is madness. I praised him after the Arsenal match he is a good keeper. This season has seen him make some errors. We dont normally have 2 keepers in a squad who are more than good enough to start week in week out. It normally doesnt happend with most teams but we do have those 2 who could and would class themselfs as a first team player.

To say its because I am Irish and I am not happy because Shay isnt playing its all bollocks. It doesnt matter who they are IF Shay made those kind of mistakes I would be saying the same thing as we have another keeper waiting in the wings to take over. People keep going on about age and hes young Joe has played over 100 games in the priemier league time to drop the age shit he has more experience than most 23 year old keepers. Added into the mix the defence is more solid this season than ever before. Joe just lacks the concentration at times and messes up at times.

IF and its a big IF if Shay stays in Mancini plans maybe he should be given a run of games to try and take the jersey off Joe. We are quick making changes to the outfield players but the keeper is ever present. IF he is not in his plans then just sell Given off. In one of the Irish papers a Italian club might come in for him with Trap dropping his name over there so maybe a deal could be done but Mancini must make a decision either stick with Joe and sell Given or give Given a run of games in the team maybe a rest will be good for Joe and make him more focused for when he gets back into the team.
