Has anyone put their central heating on yet?

having read this thread it seems to me that some kind of pre-nup agreement should be entered into before marriage

one of the worst things for me is being cold, I cant function when Im cold, so if I was living with someone who refused to have heating on, it'd end in divorce

don't you live in queensland? my brother lives at Surfer's, it's never cold there, even though the whinging pomey bastard complains if he gets a frost on his windshield.

I beg to differ - a place in the far south nr the NSW border called Stanthorpe - hated getting up at 6am to go fruit picking in British-like temperatures.

Im happy that after a couple of cold weeks the temperature picked back up and is supposed to hold until after next week. I held off last year until October but had to have it on until bloody May and I have the most inefficient boiler on earth

Mrs Undies just had a hissy fit and turned it on for the first time since last Winter, im still in my shorts n tee shirt, fuckin women

Went on yesterday as the missus is ill, to be fair some am I so the heat is needed. Gutted as I thought we could make it to November but since Monday the temperature has dropped

Heard conflicting arguments so can anyone put me right. Some say its best to keep your heating on rather than it being on and off all the time. As that it uses more energy to heat up rather than just run at a modest temp.

The boiler I have doesn't constantly run as such. It kicks in when it drops below 20c until it above. That's normal though I guess.

20c? Soft bastard, it's supposed to be cheaper to keep the house at a constant temperature, I just bang a few more logs on the fire.

Most new boilers cannot be turned off, they have remote heating controls that allow you to adjust a minimum temp of say 10deg to a maximum of 28/30 deg. Therefore if your room temperature drops to 10deg or below, the boiler will kick in to heat the room up to minimum temperature set (10deg), therefore maintaining a low temp of 10deg. So some energy bods somewhere have decided, that it better to keep it on low all the time, and use little bursts of gas to reach a high setting, than letting it cool down too much. Hope it makes sense :$
