Has anyone put their central heating on yet?

As a kid, the only heating was a single coal fire in the "parlour". In the winter, including Christmas, my dad would kick us out of the house for an hour so the house felt warm when we came back in.

It isn't 1850 now though pal ;)

No heating yet but the winter duvet has come out of hiding for Saturday and my pj's went on last night.

I do a similar duvet swap at end October and take the outgoing one to the cleaners. They now charge £20 but I'm seeing new ones for not much more. Not sure though how/where you can dump them.

Quite right, heating doesn't come on till 1930-earliest.

Hardly a cloud in the sky up in Fleetwood, been out walking since 9.30 by the sea in shorts & t-shirt.

Just popped into my local for a couple in the beer garden.

What we've saved on fuel we'll spend on beer.
