Has City explained the logic of buying other football clubs?

Re: Has City explained the logic of buying other football cl

I was reading Soriano's book again and he mentions 3 markets where there is high disposable incomes but the local competition isn't strong, America, Japan and China. The idea is to buy into a club so you maintain a permanent presence in a new market; this allows you exposure you wouldn't otherwise have. The local population then will have a reason to chose your team when they decide which European team to follow. Then you have a captive market to sell your products to. I'm not sure exactly how we will go about building a relationship with the local fan though.

This afternoon I was listening to a journalist from the UAE on talk sport who thinks Qatar will pull out of hosting the 2022 world cup. It turns out the USA finished 2nd in the bid process. How good would it be for us if the USA were to end up hosting it? It could only boost football further in the States, and therefore our New York City.

Am I the only one a little concerned when the words such as domination are included in posts? Of course we want success but I don't want to win everything all the time by dominating the sport because that takes away sport from the equation.

I want City to compete in as many competitions as possible but I don't want to dominate them every year.

I want to be challenging for the Premier league most seasons but if we win it every single year it's no longer a sport. I don't want every season to go to the wire but if we won it (say) 5 out of the next 10 seasons and were close enough in the other 5 I'd be absolutely delighted, beyond what I should be expecting. If we won it 10/10 I'd suggest by the 5th time or so it would be a big turn off for many fans including some of us.

As for other competitions, again making progress in Europe would be good but for me it's not the be all and end all. If we were to win it once in the next 5 years or so it would be fantastic but if we didn't I wouldn't be too upset either.

Don't worry. I'm sure UEFA will ensure that doesnt happen for a long time yet

Check out the Mancini style Blue & White scarf - the prominence is placed on the word City !
Also the more we are discussed in the global media the new sound bite is "City Football Group" which is slowly replacing Abu Dhabi United Group, say what you want but unwittingly this has always been a faux par to beat us with.
In a few years ADUG in name only will be forgotten as a link to CFG will be the sporting business vehicle. #CTID

ADUG owns CFG directly and it in turn control the different teams.. classic, simple and efficient

India next ?

The Indian Super League has announced that Frenchman Robert Pires will be joining the project this season.

Didn't someone mention we had met with officials from Goa ?

We did. and they supposedly wanted to sell a portion of the club in exchange for the rights to "theme" the club on City in the manner of the Kolkata club, who franchised themselves to Atletico Madrid and became Atletico de Kolkata. However, the Goa club in the last week announced their club name as "Goa United Bishops", so I'm pretty sure this means that they gave up on the idea of attracting European investment.

Also, City in the past have said that they are consciously avoiding moving into any regions where the football has a reputation for corruption or otherwise for not being 100% whiter than white, so I'm not sure if India would be considered a prime target for CFG right now or not.
