Has everyone cheered up yet?

The rags took 20 points over the course of the last ten games of last season and some of the games that they managed to win were narrow victories. Their old farts started to flag.

Do you really, honestly believe that their points haul from last season has any bearing on this season

It's what the rags have been saying all seasons long so why wouldn't I think that? Especially when you consider the Dad's Army element.

They only got 80 points from 38 matches over the whole season last year so 20 points from 10 hardly shows a hugely significant flagging of their players imo and last year they had Arsenal away, Liverpool away and Chelsea at home in a much tougher run in than this year. Anything can happen though I suppose so I hope you're right.

I have very fond memories of a certain semi final last April, where you could see how jaded some of them were. And surely it stands to reason, doesn't it?

If you say so, I could come up with various arguments against what you're saying but I suspect I'd be accused of being unneccessarily negative. Suffice to say that their results have got increasingly good over the last couple of months not worse so personally I'm not expecting them to suddenly start flagging. If we are to win the title, imo we are going to have to significantly improve our away form and win it for ourselves rather than waiting for them to drop points. The only hope I have in terms of them fucking up is that, as you say, they haven't actually being playing particularly well so hopefully at some point that might catch up with them. But even with that, it happens so often you end up having to conclude that it isn't just about luck.

I see where you're coming from and since Sunday, I've been thinking about how we should concentrate on our own results and not worry about what the rags are doing. I do a bit too much wishful thinking sometimes but I desperately want this and I hope the optimism about the rags and their form might have a grain of truth to it after all.

I have to say, though, that some people have worried themselves silly over the run-in without giving due consideration to the fact that we have by far the better squad. And there is no wishful thinking about that.

Like everyone else I was feeling down after the weekend but at the end of the day we need to ask whether we are making progress season on season and the answer is an emphatic YES.
Look at where we stand versus the Sky 4 over the last 4 seasons

We were 40 points behind United in 2008-9, then 18 points behind the next season, 9 points behind last season and currently 1 point behind.

Liverpool: 2008-9 36 points behind, then 4 points ahead the next season, 14 points ahead last season and currently 27 points ahead

Chelsea: 2008-9 33 points behind, then 19 points behind the next season, level last season and currently 17 points ahead

Arsenal; 2008-9 22 points behind, then 8 points behind the next season, 3 points ahead last season and currently 14 points ahead

Which ever way you look at THE FUTURE IS OURS!

Hope that we can put one over Lisbon on Thursday and then bring on Chelsea next Wednesday! Need to get the press to shut up with all the shant getting dished out and get back to positive ways!

Had a Chelsea fan, a fucking CHELSEA fan try and give it the big I am today about us being second! YCNMIU! "Sorry, where are you?". Would have been impressed at his audacity if I wasn't still so fucking angry.

So no, I haven't cheered up yet. After a loss I only cheer up when we next win. Lisbon better get a fucking good hiding.

I don't think you can delete your own account. Doesn't Ric (and/or a mod) alone have the power to do that?
