Has it been a good/poor season?

In his first season PEP was dealt a defence that was incompatible with his attacking ambition so we accepted first season failure. This season we were hit with injury to Laporte and failure to replace Kompany was not his fault but Laporte's absence did not affect the FA Cup and Champions League. Pep's insistence with trying to play a defensive midfield employing part of the Rodri/Gundogan/D.Silva/Fernandino axis has cost us repeatedly. He keeps trying to get something out of this when it is doomed to fail.

That's the problem with managers like Pep. They have to show the world I gave you barcelona and tiki taka now I am going to show you something else. Ego trips and vain projects. Costly.

I think we’ll be in a battle for top 4,I honestly think we will struggle to win the league when it starts up in September..
We wont challenge for the title unless Pep abandons his projects.

We certainly have the best squad but we have a manager who has lost the plot. It is unknown whether this is fatal now. I think he may move on and be paid off for that final year. I want him to either extend or move on. A lame duck cracked Pep will likely see a continuation of this season.

In truth we don't know anything but last night will colour the entire Summer or what is left of it.

Our genius has become a potential millstone.

Well Watford got a good stuffing in the FA Cup Final the previous year and they were no better than Villa.

That’s why they got a good stuffing. They were much worse than Villa & are now relegated

It shows how far we have come when second in the Premiership, beating Real Madrid twice and winning the league cup is classed as a bad season.

I was in the crowd of 8015 against Swindon in 1965.

Get a grip ffs!

Sterling needs to be fined a months wages for that miss btw.
What a load of bollocks. I’ve been going for 30 years, you don’t judge a season on what happened 50 years ago.
It’s been a poor season.
We have the best squad in the league , with the best manager in the league, with a club built for him with plenty of resources. This season has been piss poor. 9 league defeats, double derby defeats, Norwich , Southampton, going out with a whimper against a weak arsenal in a semi final. Throwing the game against Lyon a team who were 7th in a league the standard of league One.

A very bad season I must say, but it's understandable considering it's a transitional period and we might have been hampered by the FFP/CAS cloud hanging over our heads. With that said, we shouldn't have gone out against Lyon last night.

All down to how we react now - Pep needs to commit or go imo, I hope he stays and that we are able to rebuild/tweak the squad with new hungry players.

We're in a transition phase.

I don't know any other team that has managed to cope through that.

The next generation will be set for next season

Onwards and upwards... Not getting caught up in this negative sack the manager bollocks

Way too many "bad days at the office" this season and our beloved Pep looks like he needs a year away from football. No doubt he's a tactical genius but constant tinkering along with a steady supply of comic-book defensive errors have given our opponents a significant boost and belief that we're there for the taking. Saw the team selection last night and a blind man on a galloping horse could see we were going to struggle but the low point of the season for me was the no-show against the Arse in the FA Cup S/F - we'd a great chance of retaining it.

We've seen off - for now - a clear and orchestrated attack on our Club this season, have blown apart any notion of fairness or integrity within the game and exposed the Cartel's toxic influence. Our massed enemies outside the Club will continue to throw as much muck at us in the hope that some of it sticks and can be used to further their bitterness and stinking racism towards us and our owners. But guess what - we're still here you bastards, finished 2nd in the corrupt PL and have another nice shiny new trophy in our cabinet.

Get behind the Team lads and lasses - Manchester City Football Club is in our blood.

An awful season, the lockdown gave us a chance to recharge and go out and win the cups. We were knocked out of both quite comfortably. Thankfully we have a few weeks and then it starts again. No time to sit around and think about it.

one of the worst seasons since the take over. with the players and manager we have, to go out with a whimper in the fa cup semi, Cl quarter and finish 16 points behind liverpool, is unacceptable.

What is our transition though? Most sides in transition are transitioning from a position of weakness to a position of strength. We seem to be doing it arse upwards.

It’s not rocket science to understand that if you replace top, top players with inferior ones you get worse as a team but that is exactly what we have been doing...

Kompany - A world class CB and leader. Replaced with two or three players not fit to lace his boots.
Fernandinho - The best CDM in world football. Replaced by a guy who can’t move. Like he literally cannot move.
David Silva - Arguably the best midfielder in the Prem for the past decade. Replaced with Gundogan. Fucking laughable.
Sane - Most exciting young LW in world football. Replaced by a guy who can barely beat a man and is better on the other wing.
Sterling - Unstoppable in a front 3 with Sane on the opposite flank. Replaced by a guy who plays only for himself and goes in a big fucking sulk like a baby when things don’t go his way.

If we are in a transition, we need to get better at it because our recent forays into the transfer market have been fucking woeful.

Got shades of Pellegrini’s final season IMO.

Weak spine of the team, we got turned over in nearly every big game and we play slow and boring football.

For me the players aren’t the issue, Pep’s tactics have just become stale. Sides have worked us out and we haven’t adapted.

Not great. The phasing out of David Silva was needed but could of been a lot handled better. The Points gap can't be ignored but that ws partly down to various baffling refeering/VAR decision ( We only conceded 2 goals more and scored more than the current champions bestest team in the universe and despite pep's "bad tactics2). Champions League campaign looked promising up until the Lyon game still major improvement needed but there are still factors beyond our control that are still looming in our defeats in that competition.

Patchy season.

The worry for me for the future is repeated errors (simple ball over the top leading to goals), poor set pieces and a squad with big holes in key positions

we’ve got a good manager and great board though, on the bright side!

Kompany was replaced by whom? He wasnt replaced which was a fuckup
Fernandihno at 34 is NOT the best CDM in the world
I dont know what Sane has to do with it, he didnt want to play for City
Silva hasnt been replaced by Gundog ?? He's being replaced by no one tbh, maybe Foden

A transition would be where the spine of your squad (Kompany, Ferny, Silva, Aguero) are coming to the end of their careers and we try to replace them - which is what we;re doing tbh (Laporte, Rodri, Foden, whoever replaces Aguero)

Seen it before it'll take a while
