Has Manchester lost too many of it's old pubs in town

Boomers. These labels are fucking childish and depressing.

We are all people ffs
It shouldn't be perceived as a derogatory term. For me it describes perfectly a certain section of our society which people immediately identify with.

The anti-Brexit mob adopted it as a sort of put down, to describe the tory voting, right wingers who were taking us out of the EU, but I know plenty Baby Boomers who voted to against Brexit and are staunch socialists.

Passed the Mitchell Arms on the Metro on the way to the Forest game, there appears to be work being done on it.

Yeah, I noticed that myself.

I thought at the time the landlord said it was a compulsory purchase as the tram line needed to run right through it but clearly not.

It is also a nonsense, I was born in the 70s ( so not a boomer) and very much prefer a proper traditional pub to the drivel served up in stevie sq and parts of thomas st.

I als like a decent bar thet still serves draught of many assortments on keg and cask and not just bottles and shite like madri and american pale ales on tap

In the halcyon days of the 80s newspapermen, postmen and railwaymen were all discouraged from drinking.
That was a large contingent of reliable beer drinkers gone from pubs and clubs.
So it's been left to Tinas, Georginas, Ruperts and Tobys with their alcopops, Mexican lagers and gins to fill that hole.
Hence the loss of traditional pubs selling cask beer.
Bring back the alehouse!

I’d be pissed off if I went to an English pub and they were offering some American pale ale

Most traditional pubs lost their edge when the smoking ban came in, food and children came next followed by renaming then sports bars.

It's gone and it isn't coming back.
