Has Manchester lost too many of it's old pubs in town

Old Grapes used to be just off Quay St, owned by Corrie's Vera Duckworth at one time. Would be en route to old trafford so possibly the one?
Was a regular haunt of George Best when he was playing for that lot. Sometimes he'd park his white Roller right outside the main door but probably got fed up of having it keyed.

I had a go a few times :)

That pub is a shithole, no great loss tbh.

Always full of knobheads causing trouble.
Completely agree.
An old fashioned pub with an obvious heritage, but had a "can't be arsed attitude" to the customers.
Manchester City Council should not allow the pub to disappear though - there are far too many examples of the City Centre losing its iconic, industrial heritage.
I often wonder if the Labour controlled City authority are looking after the City's unique history ?

It’s been bought by the brewery and being refurbished. Open in 3 months.

I’m with you on that.

Those were the days when players would tumble out of a pub with a "dolly bird" on each arm and fumble with his keys trying to unlock the door. A Bobby would come along and say " Is this your vehicle si....oh hello George...give me the keys. Allow me" and open the door and wave him off as he drove away.

Mother Macs gone??

seen posts online saying a sign was up with contact booking.com for refunds on reservations made and doors shut over the weekend

Yes Mother Macs has gone. My uncle’s favourite place in the 50/60s.

This is not an old style pub by any means but a big part of my youth. A feature on Henrys.
