Has Nasri been our biggest loss?

He has been the guy who both Silva and Yaya bounced off a lot of the time.

He may not have scored loads of goals but in many. many games he was very important in a team context. Not just in terms of the little triangles but also in terms of persistent control of a football match. One of the reasons, I think, our CM and in turn our CBs have become further exposed this season is because with 2 direct players who aren't all that great atm at possession football and ball retention (not just in accuracy and quality of pass but also in knowing where to be and move to for the return pass), in KDB and Sterling, we don't camp on the opposition box as much so games become more end to end and random.

Alot can be dependant upon opposition but I would have liked to have seen Nasri, De Bruyne and Silva play together this season, esp. in home fixtures. We'd have the auxiliary playmaker in Nasri, the direct playermaker in KDB and the orchestrator in Silva.

Some might say that with those 3 we'd lose on workrate but with those 3 we wouldn't need to work back so often, so in certain games it can work out as a positive. If the game isn't going as planned then we have the bench

Every player out injured is a loss , no matter how often they play when fit and their position and role in the team.

We have missed Nasri but its a long bow to suggest his unavailability is the reason why we are 3 points behind Leicester and not 8 points ahead of them after 23 games this season.

Like a number of our midfielders he lacks consistency of performance when fit and as far as this season is concerned would most likely be below Sterling , Silva , KDB , Yaya and Navas in the pecking order.

Nothing positively influences the view of a player, on Blue Moon, than a spell on the sidelines. The longer Nasri does not play the better he will become. Same with Kompany.

Always rated Nasri, he usually turns up on big occasions, when the chips are down, he pops up with important goals ( Chelsea 2-1 in title winning season ) (carling Cup) ( Roma away) good at holding up, and onto the ball. With Yaya's demise, Silva's injury, we are missing gears in our midfield engine, I just hope KDB, Silva, Yaya, Aguero, Delph, Fernandihno, Sterling can click like we know they can.

We thought it about Silva and we seem to have been wrong and he is much more important than Nasri. I suspect the biggest loss is Kompany.

Its interesting that we have conceded 23 goals in our first 23 league games the same as last season.

That includes two 4 goal pastings when we hadn't conceded more than 2 in a game same time last season.

I think its more a case of Silva not being able to create the space for strikes on goal as often as he / we need when he plays ( injury and form plays a big part in that ) and Kun not being as clinical as he can be ( again injury playing a role in that ).

Added to that is the difficulty in accommodating Silva, Sterling and KDB when they start against sides who close down two on one which is why I would like Fernando , Delph and Ferny to start more often at the same time.

Defensively we have been poor by the standards we expect but no poorer than last season.

When we lose the battle in midfield we invariably drop points.

When we win it we don't lose.
