Has the BBC become a Tory tool?

On this issue I really not sure but they must realise that the are potentially damaging their futures with the BBC.

The BBC has royally fucked itself here and will want nothing more than for this to go away over the coming days so it can go back to normal and pretending it never happened.

Lineker might not come back but I’m convinced a few of the Tories working behind the scenes at the BBC will also be gone and rightly so.

No other presenters careers will be damaged over the stance they have taken imo.

I don’t mind a bit of Lineker and co talking shite on a Saturday night. All harmless and definitely not anti City. Not sure where people get that impression from?
Glass or red in hand, football on telly, feet up, no work in the morning. Perfect (unless City have lost).
Too many want constant and instant gratification.
Errrr....sure you've been watching it then?

I agree with the BBC overreaction point, but I fear that ultimately it is the British public, and the World, that will reap what is being sown. All BBC employees, irrespective of their contract type, will now likely refrain from issuing their thoughts for fear of the consequences, or they will seek employment at outlets where freedom of speech and thought are accepted. That is unhealthy and dispiriting. The BBC belongs to everyone, not the political power of the day, whichever hue, and I’ve never met anyone who has lived abroad who hasn’t gained newfound respect for its work.

What worries me most is the reactions and fall outs to even the most innocent of tweets to be honest.

What he said in no way warrants the reactions and fall outs we are seeing, it’s ridiculous.

Lineker is a citizen before he is a BBC employee or contractor and he has every right to say what he likes so long as it is within the law.

Haven't watched MOTD in years if I do it's MOTD 2 as there's much less waffle + better segments like 2 Good 2 Bad and all highlights are in an 1 hour condensed window.

Do not miss pundits like "Wrighty", Shearer, Lineker etc making the same tired jokes & observations week in week out. Highlights on Sky Sports YouTube page an hour after games & City extended highlights are much better viewing in my experience.

Not everyone has sky and the internet, especially the older generation. My dad loved match of the day ,before he got ill and now in a home.

I believe the BBC contract with the PL limits highlights to max 10 mins per game. MotD could be just put out as a You Tube shorts or a tick tock from now on
10 mins a game on average, which means 20mins for the Rags and Scousers and 5mins for everyone else?

On a serious note I didnt know that.

It doesn't look like contractually he should have tweeted what he did reading the above.

I don’t get this false upset shown because he brought up Germany in the 1930s. All this “you can’t say that“ BS.
