I'd check your facts re the "working class socialist mindset" too...MAYBE the union types who, generally from my own experience, just want more for less with no real understanding of what it is they are standing for...

In this system we have generous benefits, free nhs, a consumer culture, a better life than ever before in history...see what happens after 20 years of socialism. Speech contrained to the point there is no longer any counter narrative, truth becomes something only whispered, an economy so broken it only serves the militaristic police state, and corruption on the scale that makes the current lot seem like saints.

That’s not the precedent though. The precedent was suspending him. The bbc themselves have essentially admitted that today (although it was pretty obvious all along anyway).

Is Gary Lineker a man of substance ? If he's so right in his convictions one might argue he should have told the BBC where to stick it. Either he believes in the right to free speech without censure or he's happy to work for an employer than tries to stop him having a voice on matters other than sport ? And to carry on working for an employer that a sizeable number might think was pressured by the Government into censuring him in the hope they'd sack him ?
Presumably those pundits and commentators in the "back Gary campaign" are quite happy now that GL is back behind the camera ?

I think that's a fair point. No war or persecution in Albania , these people appear to be just after a better life which isn't a bad aspiration at all. But gaining entry using the guise of asylum seekers clearly isn't the right course of action.

Given that it's complicated and poorly understood we need serious discussion and intelligent solutions. In other words we need government to govern seriously and the rest of us to engage intelligently. Slogans such as 'stop the boats' and crass pieces of legislation that won't survive first contact give the distinct impression that government isn't interested in solutions but only in early electioneering.

I think when we look back, arguably the key defining feature of our administrations since about 2015 is that the only ability (and propensity) they have shown is to campaign (with all that implies about how you maintain your network of donors) rather than to actually govern. This is hugely damaging approach to running the country and something we need to row back from asap.

In what way is it fascist? The fascist thing to do would be to treat them as subhumans, round them up into camps, and work them to death. I don’t think that’s the case here.
