Surprise surprise, you cannot trust the public to protect the values of the nation as enshrined in protected institutions. You just can't. They get distracted, caught in traps.

I remember reading warnings about that a long, long time ago. Yes indeed, once again, it was 3rd year pre-GCSE history, Germany in the 1930's.

Honestly, more than ever, I am aware how I had a really top class history teacher as our form master. He could have worked anywhere, but left our comfortable grammar school to go teach kids in the inner cities.

Those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

I'm suggesting it's easy to have a go from a lofty perch... if you wanna change things, you can take another (maybe less lucrative route) and actually do something positive. Don't take the hundreds of thousands of riyal if you are genuinely concerned about human rights or working conditions. Give me a million-pound grace and favour apartment and elect me president for life and I'll be your leader all the way to you losing your job and me keeping my gold-plated pension, paid for by those that lost the job. I hope he does become an MP, I may vote for him - I don't think for one minute that he would take the pay cut though.

Who is allowed to speak out? Who has a voice to facilitate speaking out? Is that selective?

I have nothing against you by the way and mean you no ill. I find this whole thing very frustrating - lineker has given the government an open goal of anything - people are talking about this instead of 13 years of ruining the country
