Has the Full Back Problem returned?

I agree Walker has been much poorer this season than last, but he's played so many games and not had a proper break. Hopefully we'll bring in another LB this summer and Walker will be able to rotate with Danilo next season. We can't spend over £100m on fullbacks in a single window again.
 
Just been massively unlucky with Mendy, realise now he cant be relied upon. Walker could be upgraded but its nowhere near as bad as it was when Pep took over.
 
Walker has pace and can be good on the overlap when attacking. Defensively he's pretty average and can't hold a candle to Zabba at his peak. Left back has been an issue for years. Mendy could hve been the solution , he offers alot going forward but can crowd out Sane a bit . Defensively he is not the best but he is still young. The issue is that he hasn't been fit for us and to be honest Delph is way better defensively - and he had to learn to play in that position.All in all full backs are not our strongest position. Last night was poor from all the team and we lost shape after De Bruyne left the pitch. If we needed goals at the end why are we not throwing on Mahrez? Although he has had a few good spells, they are too few and he is looking to be an expensive muistake if we cant or don't want to play him. Was it just another case of not wanting to play on a cold night way up North? To be honest going 1-0up after seconds and then pissing it away, ain't good enough to be champions. If Liverpool lose tonight it may be back on again but that was a glorious opportunity last night. Poor all round i'm afraid , Perhaps Pep has CL as his main target
 
It’s never gone away.

We had four 32+ year olds who couldn’t do the job Pep required, they were past it really. All four were better defenders and passers than what we have now though.

We signed Walker who has really lacks concentration, is rash and can’t cross... but is a very good athlete and that’s what we were lacking with Zaba and Sagna.

We signed Mendy who is suspect defensively and is very erratic with passing in our own half... but is very dangerous on the attack and gets a lot of assists and that’s what we were lacking with Clichy and Kolarov.

We signed Danilo who I actually think is a better football player than Walker at right back (when he plays left back he plays like when you hold a mirror in one hand in front of you and look at that while it focuses on the hair line on your neck in the mirror behind you, he loses all his co-ordination).

While we upgraded in certain ways, none of them are ideal. None are good at each of the defendive side, attacking side and good athletes all together.

When Mendy is out we’ve played an attacking mid, a defensive mid and a right back who can’t play left back, at left back. Why do we have no left back cover at the whole club? When our back up ‘keeper got injured we called back one that was on loan because you can’t just have one ‘keeper. Similarly, at left back, you cannot have just one. You cannot just have one of any position. It’s alright when everyone else is at it, you get away with it, but when they aren’t it’s highlighted as a problem.

Tierney is not a good defender and seems to lack concentration as well.
 
We do not have an issue at full back. Our first choice left back is and has been injured for the majority of the season and our first choice right back is out of form (that's all). He's not become rubbish all of a sudden.

Our 2nd choice right back, who has been playing at left back - and had been in great form, didn't have a great game last night. Nobody did though.

David Silva is still fantastic.

Fernandinho's legs have not gone.

Let's not overreact to a defeat.

Hope for a reaction at the weekend. Long way to go.
