It is bizarre isn't it.Great post.
The bit about 2000's is bang on.
Lots of clubs with new stadiums, better facilities etc. Yet the pl still hang onto to old clubs dippers and rags. With shitty stadiums, poor facilities, stuck in the passed. These two shit statiums havent even got big screens, just bigger versions of Luton ground.
The pl doesn't deserve all these new stadiums and facilities. But bizarrely these clubs keep voting for rule changes that are designed to screw them and keep the old dinosaur clubs in control.
It confuses me why certain clubs would side with the new implementations that the Red Cartel introduce which are designed, not just to stop City, but to keep them forever below the cartel.
Yes, everyone would love the fairy story; local lads playing for the local team, and all have the supreme talents of Maradona, Pele, Eusebio, Beckenbauer and Phil Jones. A team that is capable of winning the lot, all on £10,000 a week per player. Tickets cost £5, Season Tickets at a reasonable £50, in a traditional brick built, square-style stadium, Roy of the Rovers style.
But it's not the 70's, the game has moved on and is ludicrously expensive and clubs require a wealthy investor just to compete let alone challenge for top honours. The Red Cartel are already in their own group of special circumstances, having a constant revenue stream of 100+ million
If they side with clubs like Manchester City, Newcastle, Chelsea, etc, then everyone benefits, everyone gains the opportunity to progress and have their supporters see their team lift a trophy, and I welcome that competition. Side with the 'traditional' Red Cartel and only 3 clubs benefit.
