Has the premier league burst its own bubble ?

Do we though? Football survived quite well for more than a century without it. There have arguably been more financial 'issues' since the introduction of FFP than there ever was before
The financial rules have never applied to the chosen few, ladder pulled up and nobody can compete.

It's all a farce IMHO.

The Premier League is the true super league.

Let's face it, barca is shit. The entire italian league is shit. The french league is shit. The germans may or may not be interested but its a one horse race over there anyway so their rags are pretty happy hoovering up all the german money and talent. Only Madrid (because of their weather if you've not heard) deseerve the super league.

Three options remain:
1. Invite Madrid to join and make the Premier league a 21 team league for a season or two
2. Kick out the red tops so they can join the second super league and leave the rest of us alone to maintain the success of the Premier League and keep it exciting.
3. Wait for Perez to be out of the picture for Madrid as he is the mouthpiece of A22 sports.

what a farce

It's just a business that stops fair trade and investment. Can you imagine Tesco being allowed to tell Aldi how much they can invest, so they cant beat Tesco. That's how the pl is

That would be seen as unfair trading and running a cartel
And, that’s the business where those that have the most money look after themselves, whatever is detriment to the rest. Sky pay the most, they get the majority say on how it’s branded. Their priority clubs will then have the majority say in how the PL is run.

None of these people are in it for the sport, it’s all about the business and maximising profits/dividends, and they’ll keep doing so as long as they are allowed to get away with it.

Honestly, I dont know :)

I suppose you have to balance owners going into debt (either to compete or because they are incompetent) with giving clubs the opportunity to develop with stopping the richer clubs just getting richer and richer and better and better. It's supposed to be a sport as well, not just a business.

I think most clubs are going to have to do something about players wages and contract lengths. Sterling has very limited appeal to anyone if they have to meet his wages, ditto Sancho and quite a lot of others. It's difficult to resolve, why would you take a substantial pay cut and potentially have to up sticks and move house etc when you can just sit tight and get paid more? I know these players want to play but money has to come into it when making a decision.

These things are cyclical. In the 90s Italy was the economic powerhouse then Spain, now the PL. This summer's transfer dealings seem quite restrained and I think everyone is waiting to see how the charges against city (and the PL) pan out as well as possible consequences for Chelsea and Newcastle. The outcome of this will shape European football for the next decade - either the PL continues to eclipse other leagues in Europe or a protectionist cartel scenario that keeps city, Newcastle and Chelsea shackled.

It goes beyond Europe now. This is why the World Cup went to the middle east. Will take another 25 yrs, but Saudi and wider football will become a major thing. European football will be part of a global thing. Think back 25k years, if flies past. Derby County finished 8th in the Premier league. Coventry finished 15th. We finished 3rd in League one.

You don't say.....

That's a good point.

We steel works shutting, almost every day a high street brand goes bust. So what does the pl do reduce the investment and allow big debt. This country needs investment in stead the pl are sticking with the old out of date brands and stop new exciting brands come through. It really is a bonkers way to run your product. If the pl was to go into the dragons den with their plan plan of debt over investment I wonder if any dragons would invest ?
Gary Neville did in Salford City! Lol
