play the system and the way we have been doing lately we will lose.......utds attack will have a field day with the gaps in front of our defines...this is not down to individual players its down to the way MP has our team set up.........

Simon - do you really think moving to a 3-man MF is the answer? If it were that simple, I would hope that MP would give it a chance. Seems to be the logical move, and without Spanish Dave on Sunday, I don't see any reason we shouldn't run Fernando, Fernandinho and Milner in the middle for some protection and control, and put Yaya or Jovetic in the #10 role behind Kun. I whole-heartedly agree with you that this is worth a shot, but I'm saying that unless our players go at this with break-neck resolve to close down, make runs, and get into positions to make things happen, we'll see the same problems regardless of our formation.

He can't win.

50% complain that he' set in his ways and wont change, and now you reckon he's doing something different of late

We drew at CSKA, lost to WHU and lost at home to Newcastle. Some say that's just an extension of a poor start to the season but after the opening few games when we weren't fit I thought we were playing as well as ever

We just need a couple of breaks, and a win and we'll be back on track. There's a long way to go, and we will win something this season. maybe the manner of our recent losses will serve as a reminder that a) a game is never won until it's over (CSKA) and if you don't play at the right intensity and don't do the basics (Newcastle) you can get punished.

Even though we have injuries. Look at our squad. We have the best defence, midfield and forwards. It's only a matter of time before they click again.

I watched Chelsea play Utd at the weekend, and then I watched them play Shrewsbury. They aren't great though everybody seems to think they are Champions elect.

Time to get over the disappointment of the League Cup and focus on beating Utd and CSKA.

If we're nervous, imagine Utd. The pressure on them to win will be even greater than it is on us. They are in 8th position and on 13 points from 9 games. If they don't win, they'll fall even further behind. They've got Arsenal, Southampton and Liverpool coming up soon so their Champions League hopes could be over in a months time.

If we play 4 in.midfield we will get overrun....Rooney will drop deep to make a 5th man and play inbetween the lines...

Aguero can do.this for.us but is not.that string in that position as rooney or indeed as tevez was for us
I thik if pellers plays wthr same.system as he has dione so far we will get beat....just my opinion

sorry marv either I've mistyped something or you have misread something.....my general point is that he hasn't changed and that we are always too wide open this season.....utds attack will have a field day if he goes with his normal 442

he should play this:

hart

zabba kompany Mdm Clichy

milner ferd yaya fernando nasri

kun

this frees yay a from defensive responsibility, and lets him attack while having both the feeds behind him to support the back 4

you could argue jovetic to nasri but I think JOvetic likes to drift inside like silva does from that position and that causes problems for the left back (though having the two defensive midfielders in there should eleviate that

if he goes 442 he is taking a huge risk against a strong attack (utd)

if you remember rightly though we had no silva so had a more solid midfield and we also had a centre forward in negrado who kept their back 4 occupied while kun dropped deeper (or the roles were reversed)........our midfield is nowhere near as strong as last year and they have improved (though their defines is still there for the taking)

last year matters not one bit and i was wrong last year...

however would you agree that our midfield is wide open this year or not?

and if you do agree with that would you agree that allowing ute that much space with the added danger of di aria (did rvp play last year ???) would be suicide?

Re: City v United pre match thread

Such a collective loss of form, passion (togetherness) cannot be mere co-incidence- We look like we did at the 2013 FA Cup Final & maybe something in- house is wrong as it was then. The lid is being kept on it but personally I think Toure soured the whole post Title feel good factor and distracted us in our preparation. He got clean away with it and if I was one of his colleagues I'd want to fuck him right off. The Club has clearly no authority over him ,so the rest of the classroom is now disruptive.
If the team cannot get up for Sunday then something is really fucked up...

It's ok we'll probably have no Silva this year either.
