Have Ajax thrown in the towel being an entity in big European Competitions?

Cruyff was only one of a number of players under Rinus Michels who was taught the Ajax philosophy. However, Michels was only one of a number of players under Jack Reyrnolds. All of them within the Ajax system. It all comes from Ajax… and Manchester:

Absolutely. The great Ajax team of the first half of the seventies was more than just Cruyff, albeit he was the jewel in the crown (and, by the way, so was the Netherlands team, which was one of the best never to win the World Cup in my life time). I clearly remember that the rest of Europe looked on in awe at those European Cup wins. Although in England there was a tendency to say “Oh yeah, it's beautiful to watch but you could never play football like that here. Try it on a wet Wednesday evening in Stoke”. England did not start to catch up with the sea change in football till the eighties, partly because Liverpool were being so successful in Europe and so that way of playing was still seen as perfectly effective for our purposes. Then of course we missed what was happening in Europe partly because of the ban (thanks again, Liverpool).

Did the Ajax Stadium tour about 7 years ago, really enjoyed it, the guide showed us a section of seats that were on the half way line that were €5k per season, lot of money to watch football that’s not too class anymore.

True but it does come with a free bag of skunk and a blow job at half time.
