Can't believe it!!!

I have been saving up over the last year to help fund my way through university. I have been working part time on minimum wage. I'm going to university in September and this money was going to be a big help. I don't think I could save this amount of money up by September as well in order to replace it.
Apparently, according to the bank, I might have been a victim of identity fraud and the police are looking into it. I only realised the money was missing today but it apparently was withdrawn yesterday. I'm in so much shock and and haven't moved for the past hour :(

your bank should get it back i got £1000 taken out of mine as a transfer and got it back that was lloyds tsb

They said to me that it's not their problem when I rang them up. Apparently I should have been more careful

Had money taken from my bank account but got it replaced 10
days later. You should be ok

I have a senior job in a Bank. I'm yet to hear of a case like this were there was not a full refund.
I trust you've not given your PIN number? How was it withdrawn?
Go and visit your local branch as soon as possible.

I don't know the details of your case, but generally speaking if someone else has taken money out of your account and you have no connection with them at all, the bank will refund the loss.

Few years ago, I had a card went missing in the post and over a 3 wwek period had abouut £5000 taken out of my account. The bank refunded it all, no questions asked.

I am always extreamly hesitant when giving my card details over the phone to pay for my bills.
e-bay took some dosh out of my account without it being necessary to do so. when i called them, they said it was in my pay pal account. So called pay pal and had it put back. It took 5 days to credit my account. I always thought that electronic transactions were instant.

Good luck mate hope you get it all back.

Thanks for your words of confidence. I will speak to them tomorrow but I feel so sick right now.

About three years ago I lost my card somewhere in town, but didn't know about it until 1am when trying to get a tenner out for a taxi.
Rang the bank in the morning around 11am and they said £290 was taken out from 4 different cash machines just after midnight in sums of £100 x 2, £50 and £40.

Made a claim and they said I must have given someone the number. Wrote back and said 'NO I HAVE NEVER GIVEN IT ANYONE' and as one payment was made at Piccadilly Station, suggested they contacted the station as there is a camera right on the cash machines. Suggested they take a look and see who it was, and as it was around 1am there would be no one else around.
They wrote back and refunded me. So if they knock you back first time, stand your ground and they will pay you back. it's a game they play.
