Have you all turned on Hughes?

Unlucky with injuries and work ethic of some of his players at City!
I have faith that Hughes, if left to his own devices, will bring in players with the work ethic he had as a player - he did at Blackburn! + the cash to bring in talent! all of his signings last summer have been our best players this season (SWP, Kompany, Zab) with Ireland helping out too! but 80% of this squad were here before Hughes came in and may not be good enough players for what Hughes wants!

With our poor defenders we are probably the 9th - 11th best team in the league, that's where we are and probably where we'll finish! It's no disgrace, we're only Manchester City at the end of the day! Might be richest club in the world but far from being a big force in football!

I think we should give him longer than this season to judge him - we're in no rush to win things yet, so let's bring something to City that we have never had in my lifetime - stability!

Problem is it's a catch 22. At times tactically he has been inept, ( Evans for Bojinov sun springs to mind) and playing Etuhu. There is an old saying If it's not broke don't fix it. Our home form wasn't broke so why change it? He should have gone all guns blazing Sun, and tried to put 3 or 4 past themto give us a bit of confidence for Thurs. Sun has given the team no confidence and to be honest the fans no hope. On the other side of the coin however, he has a good eye for players and has been very unlucky this season with injuries.

The injuries one is an interesting one, didn't Toshack when he took over at Wales say something like the training regime that was in place with Wales was the most dangerous one he had ever seen since he became a manager?
why bring up toshack =( i hate him as well lol

Toshack was making excuses. To be fair to Hughes, with wales and blackburn he punched higher weight than he should have been at. We don't know what he has been told by the owners. He was always a 4 4 2 man and has suddenly changed it. But honestly I think pound for pound he buys have been 10 times better than Svens.

I have been a very harsh critic of Hughes for most of this season, and so I hope he is replaced before next season.

BUT... if the owners retain him, then my options are very simple. I either renew my season ticket or I don't. That's my choice.

And just like I've done for almost the whole of my life... i will renew again.

And get behind the manager next season, hoping that he can prove me wrong.

I support City. Not the owners. Or the manager. Or the players.

So it's not an issue for me. I hope they replace him, but if they don't I will still be there.

Simple.

I'm in a very similar boat. Unlike many, I actually thought Hughes would do a great job at City, especially with unlimited resources. This season it obviously hasn't happened for him, or many of the players. The vast majority of criticism he is currently facing in terms of team selection and formations, is relatively justified. He hasn't shown a capacity to change the direction of a match mid stream.

But, and I say this very very cautiously, no manager, I mean not a single one, is born the finished article. Like everything in life, you learn as you go along. I'm not advocating for a moment that City should be the club which allows Hughes to learn his way to the top, but I am also not going to blow a gasket if the owners, who to be fair, know the inner workings of the club far better than any of us, decide he deserves another season...

It's funny, I've never in my time of visiting this board seen quite so much anger and bitterness. It seems that even in our darkest days under Wardle & Co, and before that even, as supporters we were much more easily pleased. The accusations and denials of people wanting instant success ring really hollow for me. If you don't want it instantly - which the vast majority claim they don't - then giving Hughes another season will not harm the long term future of the club. Certainly no more than giving Pearce a full season did.

He loans Jo to the blue bin dippers and he bangs in goals for fun, whilst our "strikers" couldn't find the opposition goal with SatNav.

The fact he is an ex-red just compounds matters.

We booed any confidence Jo had out of him in a matter of weeks.

I agree he did get a barracking from the usual idiots but his transformation at Everton has been remarkable.
But then they have a proper manager and decent morale, unlike our shambles.

It was obvious all along that he was going to be good, everything he did he got moaned at, despite playing a role in nearly every goal we scored. The reason why he's doing relatively well at Everton is because he's appriciated.

Toshack said that before they had even played a game! Sven was given 8 days, with his new signings and in that time we played once as well, then the Jan window I think it has now become clear that we were trying to sign players with smoke and mirrors and not real money! That makes the job that much harder and your chances of landing someone that the other team doesn't simply want to off load slim.

If it's confession tiome, then I'll own up as well.

I was absolutely delighted when we appointed Hughes as manager.

I was aware that Sven's time at City was a bit of a sham, Thaksin had sussed that Sven was only at City as a stepping stone, window dressing for his next job. And wanted him out as a consequence of that. So Sven's departure was actually applauded by me.

The appointment of Hughes was, at that time, a brilliant choice. He had a record of organisation, work ethic, dead ball situations, consistency and application.

ALL the things Sven didn't have!

But it became apparent very quickly that Hughes was out of his depth, and he doesn't even manage as well as he did at Blackburn. All the principles he had at Ewood have evaporated and he's trying to be someone he's not. He's trying to prove he's a world class manager, who can handle the big time, yet he makes mistake after mistake.

But would I give him another season? Why? I doubt if he could now ever lift the club to where we want to be. He's just Pearce with cash. That's it.

Would you want Pearce in charge? Of course not, so why continue with Hughes?

There is an accountancy term related to Sunk Costs. It refers to investing money, and when it becomes apparent that the investment is not going to provide benefit, you simply pull the plug and walk away. Not point chasing it. And the money spent to date? Sunk costs.

That's how i feel about Hughes.

He has let me down big time!
