Heartburn

Omeprazole is a PPI, it reduces production of acid, it doesn't dilute it.

A hiatus hernia is when your stomach slides up into your chest, meaning the natural sphincter created by the oesophageal hiatus is no longer doing its job.

There is no "flap" in the oesophagus, you have physiological sphincters.

You don't drown from stuff in your oesophagus, that would be your trachea (different tube).

Other than that, you smashed it.. :)
Shoulders back

Sounds like a hiatus hernia. One thing you can do is raise your bed two or three inches at the head. Another thing is go to the doctors and get a proper diagnosis. Then after tests you will be put on the correct medication.
The whiffer bought a wedge pillow that I might give a try. Can’t see it ending well as I sleep on my side mostly.
My Dr. Is a quack that thinks there’s nothing wrong with me even though I only go to see him once in a Bluemoon when there’s something wrong with me.

great post thanks & so pleased for the news on your health ,i am going to ask my GP to refer me for this saliva test suffer with Barrett’s h/hernia . there is a history of oesophageal cancer in my family .
Don't delay, Oesphagus cancer is very aggresive and if it breaks out the survival rate is grim.

I was lucky they found it really early and with the on trial treatment of "radio frequency ablation" from the USA, has given the patient a fighting chance of survival.

Fingers crossed that everything is ok for you.

Thanks had Barrett’s for a few years now so I am on watchful waiting but it’s all ways at the back of my mind .

Does that mean i have to refund barcon his $75 ?
To be fair to me, I wrote what the useless NHS 'doctor' told me. I have a hiatus hernia and until I read your post, thought, as I'd been told, it was the flap not working.

Anyway, about my knee, I've got this pain just here and.................

My mum said she didn’t bother for her procedure as she didn’t have anyone to pick her up afterwards and it wasn’t that bad, but I don’t think I can have a camera down my throat without maximum assistance
Yeah im sure it would be fine without if you really wanted to go down that route. they have "banana spray" to numb the throat entirely so its not like its without any meds. but I personally have a really strong gag reflex so needed that extra.
