Heaviest home defeat you've witnessed either at Maine Rd or the Etihad

Yep that Liverpool game was a real shocker - men v boys ..my old man as a football fan liked going to those games in particular even though there was a period where we were their real whipping boys - Dalglish scored more against us than any other team. Loads of record broken as they battered us at home...always
Those .Liverpool games were painful viewing for me as a kid on MOTD
Always remember Dalglish turning a young Tommy Caton inside out 3 times before rifling the ball left footed past Corrigan.
Men against boys.literally.

Yup.. it's only my opinion, for what it's worth, but Bobby Moore at his peak was imperious.

As a player, I liked Beckenbauer (up there with Baresi, Maldini and Moore) For me, though, Moore was the best reader of a game of any defender.

Were he playing today (as with our own Colin Bell and Paul Madeley of Leeds, both of whom cruised around the pitch) you'd have to break the bank to buy Bobby Moore.

And he wasn't just a great defender, he could play in front of the back four like Rodri. And be as good as Rodri.. who has been the greatest player on the planet for the past three years.

That Bobby Moore never was awarded European Footballer of the Year sometime during the period 1964-70 was an absolute disgrace.. of course, in my opinion!
I used to read a lot sbout Dutch defender Rudi Krol from the 70s
Where does he rate in your assessment top of ball playing defenders ?
If at all...

1970, City 1 WHU 5 Jimmy Greaves scored twice for them on his debut. Played on a mudbath that was Maine Rd in those days. I think it was their 5th goal, Joe Corrigan hoofed the ball upfield and trudged back towards his goal. By the time he got there the ball was in the net - volley from half way

Ruud Krol was outstanding for a few years, especially at the 78 World Cup. He lacked pace (like Bobby Noore!) but his reading of the game was similar.. and again like Moore, the Dutch national team's play all started with him controlling things from the back. Great player!

A brilliant performance by the great Jimmy Greaves. He had recently moved to WHAM after turning us down but only because he wanted to stay in London. He heaped praise on City for our playing style, then walloped us.
He also had a habit of scoring on his debuts
