Hector Bellerin

One full back can't play all games, and there's always small niggling injuries, just look at our current rotation.

The starting full back and the reserve will get games, no matter what.

Clichy: 8 games, 3 premier league, 2 champions league, 1 champions league qualification and one EFL.

Kolarov: 11 games, 7 premier league, 2 champions league and 2 champions league qualifications.

Sagna: 5 games, 4 premier league and 1 champions league qualification.

Zabaleta: 9 games, 5 premier league, 2 champions league, 1 champions league qualification and one EFL.

As that shows, how come you think Bellerin would suddenly be able to play ALL games?

They're stats for our team currently, but that's because we always have injuries and nobody is a clear front runner in either position.

Bellerin started 44 out of a possible 54 games for Arsenal in all competitions last season. So next time go a bit deeper with your research.

That would give just 10 or so starts to his back up. If I was Maffeo there's no way I'd take that amount at his age, knowing it's never likely to improve.

Don't give me the old, well at city we rotate blah blah blah, because we only do that out of necessity. Our best team will always be picked in the PL and CL.

We never just pick the best team, we have far to many games for that to happen, and that's why a squad is not just 11 players deep. Find me one team in the whole world, where one fullback played all games.

EDIT: And there's always different tactics against different teams.

I never said a full back would play all the games...

Anyway, the best player will play the majority of the matches. That's obvious. Also see how many games Dani Alves played under Pep per season at Barca - he averaged around 50 games, which would suggest Pep likes to stick with his best team IF possible.

Do you think Maffeo has ambitions of playing for Spain? Do you think he has a chance of doing that as Bellerin's understudy at club level?

interesting that Barcelona are reportedly in talks with Valencia about their right back Joao Cancelo (highly rated, been linked with us in the past)

could this leave the pathway open for a move for Bellerin?

Hector's Barcelona roots make him a perennial link to return but I haven't gotten the impression he wants to return. Like Cesc, he'd have to issue a come get me plea.

I'd prefer a rotation of Cancelo or Hysaj with Roberto than Bellerin, tbh

I was talking my brother who is an Arsenal fan, he said Bellerin was given the chance when Debuchy was injured. Wenger used him because he had no other options against Dortmund and Bellerin had below average game, but because Wenger had no choice but him he kept using him for a while and Bellrin proved his worth after that.

Hopefully Maffeo will be given the same chance and I am sure he will prove his worth.
