Just max your budget on the Best VW Golf Diesel you can find

They hold their price and are Driven by all types of people so no one will pidgeon hole you by the car you drive. ery reliable as well

Mine was removed from the road by an absentminded builder notw atching where he was driving his van right outside the Tabernacle on the A6 in Longsight

SO has the OP made his mind up yet? Baby Messerschmidt or something better value for money and made in the UK?

EDIt - whoever said three year old, I'd generally agree - 1 to 3 years old

Depending on your preference, and going off cars I've driven and can confirm are good to drive, I'd say either a Citroen C4 Cactus or a Mazda 3. Different types of car, but both are incredible to drive, Mazda is a bit sportier and nippier, Citroen is very soft and laid back. Out of the 2, I'd go for the Mazda (so much so, I actually bought one after having one as a rental car).

Driven by pricks presumably :-)

Cactus is the first car I've seen with cushions on the side - should have some use in the "car park door ding" wars! A 4x4 with side steps works just as well though! ;-)

Yes, it's aimed primarily at people who insist on parking 3 inches away from the car next to them in a car park, forcing the other driver to open their door right against their car so they don't have to run the Krypten Factor assault course over their parcel shelf and through the front seats!

However, it doesn't take away from the fact that it is a cracking car to drive. Feels like a 4x4, drives like a hatchback. And even though they only have relatively small engines (I think the largest is a 1.8 diesel, no turbo), if you put your foot down, they can properly shift.
