I've been a fan of City for forty years since my Dad used to take me down the road to watch Gary Owen, Asa Hartford, Mike Doyle and Dennis Tueart. One of the great things about us has always been our humour, laughter in the face of another "typical city" display and the joy of the bell ringing blonde beehive on the opposite stand.
These are exciting times for us and Tevez is the signing that has excited me more than any I can think of in my time watching the blues. In our excitement please let's not forget the values that make us who we are; 28,000 fans cheering on the players in the third tier of English football. We are unique, one of the most loyal followings in football. We do not need, however much we feel we have got one over our neighbours, to stick our fingers up in their faces. We have won nothing yet and I mean absolutely nothing. There is a chance that we will show significant progress and it's something that any true blue has been wanting since the 1970's. We are not yet in a position where we can poke fun without being thought of as something that we are not. Conceited, arrogant and capable of ruining football with our new found riches.
We will remain unique if we genuinely appreciate how lucky we are and remain humble if we succeed.
