For the dance floor you could never beat Young MC 'I come off' , and great lyrics,
But for the serious stuff it'd be Public Enemy's 'it takes a nation of millions ...' album.
Saw them at the Apollo in about '91 (fear of a black planet era?) and the atmosphere they generated was intense.
