Hobbies for the middle aged man

I am currently bidding at auction on a 20” cannon barrel, in the hope of building a gun carriage for it if I win it.

Its allegedly a 19th century functional signal cannon - bit of wood and some hen house or shepherds hut wheels, it’d make a “large mini” cannon which I reckon would be cracking in my garden.

Saw similar a while ago, but didn’t want to pay £1100 for it (had a 22” barrel)

‘Allegedly’ doesn’t sound like a way to value such things…..not that I know anything

Guitar. Not just for the enjoyment of learning and the sense of achievement that brings. It has taken me approx. 4 years to stop sounding shit. But that's because I used to play really badly on purpose just to fuck the neighbours off. Getting an electric one in a few months to plug in the amp and plonk it in the garden and really ramp up the noise for the fuckstains.

If you like Lego you should check out the brick link designer programme. Official Lego sets but they are voted on and then if enough pre orders get made they are produced. Usually six months wait but are worth it as some of the designs are truly breathtaking. (Not the same as standard Lego ideas sets)

Crikey some top stuff there, didn’t see any prices apart from a comment from some bloke saying they got one of eBay for $330, so guessing they’re not cheap!

Recommendations would be most helpful..things to do inside or out

And no weird shit!

which leads seamlessly to the better hobby of start drinking wine
There's always a bottle that's at its peak or nearing the end of its drinking window that needs to be opened, and you’ve got to try the new vintages too — collecting wine is really just a fancy way of saying you drink a hell of a lot of it.

Had this just over a year, always fancied one but life got in the way, 1963 series 3 Li 150 Pacemaker Special. My late older brother had the same model in the mid 70s wish he'd been around when I bought it.
Have had plenty of enjoyment out of it so far, it's a reasonably healthy hobby, plenty of fresh air.

I have been collecting a few different types of coins for variety as well as adding to my British monarchs date run.

Fly fishing - very relaxing and absorbing at the same time -you are constantly on the move, usually in beautiful environments.

Radio control aero modelling / flying - consumes vast amounts of time if you build your own ... when flying model as per fly fishing - usually in beautiful environments

I've started to collect Hot Wheels cars...I don't know why. I just like the more real normal ones. The first one I got was a Ford Escort. I don't keep them in the boxes.

Apparently as a 1 1/2 inch bore it’s classed as “Antique / obsolete calibre” but I started out by collecting a few cannon balls, 32lb down to musket shot and there is deffo a couple of 1.5 inch balls in there - for display purposes only of course ;)

Hoping to courier it to me, thinking to keep the cost under £200 to buy and get it in my mucky paws
Did you get it ?
