Losing top spot after only 6 days would be wonderful to see. Especially if it follows them being dumped out of the CL by Napoli and the huge blow to their self esteem that would bring.

We need to focus on the league. Our squad gets a point at least against Hoffenheim which is all we need to top the group which is vital this season judging by who else will. The league cup can also do one and should only be for squad players. The exceptions being Aguero and De Bruyne should they need minutes. Gabby can play all the games as he is young enough and needs a run.

Barca, Real, Bayern, Atletico, Juventus and PSG likely to win group (PSG could still be 2nd). So winning the group could be vital. Still potentially tough teams to play though. Dortmund, Napoli for example.

Because of that Pep might go strong but he really shouldn't. Cannot see Lyon beating Shakhtar. They might draw but can actually see Shakhtar stealing 2nd place as they did v Napoli last season. Lyon seem to be a thorn against us but shite otherwise.

You are probably correct but can you imagine if Lyon won and we lost then drew Barca.

At least we could then concentrate on winning the league and maybe a cup double, much better in my view. Incidentally, now that Young Phil has put pen to paper, Pep has no need to risk playing him until the League Cup tie. I still don't think he is physically up to the big boys in Europe, maybe next season.

I think we might beat Barca at our best and move on but I’d rather have that test in the final as 2 games v Barca may well take it out of us. So it depends how you see it.

After the Prem I’d rather have a chance at the CL than the domestic cups again.
