Holding onto our nerve

Sorry Bluemooner i happen to think that there is nothing suspicious going on at all. Its just the way the computer has thrown out the fixtures. I refuse to think that there is any sort of corruption going on in the English game.

I certainly think there is suspicious goings on in the English game.
Im not sure it goes as deep as the fixtures though. And it could be worse, we good have Burnleys opening fixtures.

I think the point is however that we as City fans should not jump on board with the critics 'IF' we have a poor run. This will do us no good what so ever and we really need to get behind the team. We are standing alone and the majority of people would like to see us fall.

So whether you aprove of Hughes or not, he is the manager so lets keep faith in him and give him good chance.

Hopefully it wont come to it anyway and given the chance to win some early away games will have them all shitting themselves!

2-1 City on Saturday, Come on Blues!!!

Refereeing mistakes - intentional or not - are reported endlessly along with words like 'blunder' 'error' 'farce'

Not when those same mistakes are beneficial to the rags they're not. They're immediately glossed over and Gray and Co will merely pay lip service to the ref's errors. However, when the officials make an error of judgement that DOESN'T help the rags we get slow motion replays from every conceivable angle and Sky almost go into meltdown.

Maybe conspiracy is too strong a word to describe what is going on in the Premier League, but it's certainly no coincidence that the rags seem to get more dodgy decisions than any other team in the Prem.

This seems like pre-performance anxiety- making apologies and excuses before the event gets underway.

I admit myself to cursing the fixture list every year when the scum get the newly promoted teams at the swamp -or seemingly, but I dont think theres a conspiracy. As the saying goes to win anything youve got to face every team home and away at some point- so over the course of the season it balances out. I dont think our first few games are particularly tough. OK our away form stank last year but sooner or later weve got to turn that around if were to be succesful- maybe being throw in at the deep end sooner will help.

As far as the media etc are concerned, theres not much we can do about it. Its the sad fact that the English press love to build up and break down- theres nothing that will sell papers more than a complete and utter balls-up of a season from City...and given our record in the past we all know were the masters of making bad of a good situation. Though like our away record, its up to us to change this trend (and maybe, hopefully this time we have the means to do so) and I fully agree that these traits in our charcter will more quickly be rectified with the support of us fans than if we also jump on the hyperthetical doom & gloom media bandwagon, should things not go our way from the start. Like wise we should be wary of claiming titles and trophies should we take max points from the first 3 or 4.

But lets all take a deep breath, not get too panicky. Weve all got back on another rollercoaster ride courtesy of the blues and are all feeling the butterflies- hold tight, because this one in one way or another, with even bigger ups and downs, twists and turns will probably be the best one yet...

At the end of the day you have to play everyone home and away, its not like the top 4 get to play burnley every week.
In fact I think its better to have your tougher games earlier in the season, look at united last year. Fergie moaned about having to play chelsea, arsenal, liverpool, villa and city away before xmas but in the end it was beneficial as they had an easier run in.
Its all swings and roundabouts, people will moan if you have a tough start, people will moan if you have a tough run in.
Everyone plays 38 games and the table at the end of the season will reflect that.

Weird, for me it's the first year I've not been concerned. Watching the Celtic match, I wasn't watching a mid-table team.

I don't like the "typical city" tag of course, not sure when that started.

If you speak to most "top 4" supporters, and ask them what they thought about being beaten or drawing last week, they shrug it off and say "because of this or that etc", they rarely "boo" or come down like a tonne of bricks on the team when something doesn't go their way.

We need to do the same, start thinking big and being big, one city one voice so to speak.

The big four bias is celar and I can imagine the bigwigs at the Premier League panicking at the thought of another team gatecrashing the party,

they still managed to get Liverpool in the Champions League when Everton finished fourth remember?? That stunk to high heaven,

Don't think the fixtures were rigged tho, as we aren't in Europe this year we should take advantage around September/October as all our rivals including Everton and Villa will be off playing in Europe in midweek.
