This seems like pre-performance anxiety- making apologies and excuses before the event gets underway.
I admit myself to cursing the fixture list every year when the scum get the newly promoted teams at the swamp -or seemingly, but I dont think theres a conspiracy. As the saying goes to win anything youve got to face every team home and away at some point- so over the course of the season it balances out. I dont think our first few games are particularly tough. OK our away form stank last year but sooner or later weve got to turn that around if were to be succesful- maybe being throw in at the deep end sooner will help.
As far as the media etc are concerned, theres not much we can do about it. Its the sad fact that the English press love to build up and break down- theres nothing that will sell papers more than a complete and utter balls-up of a season from City...and given our record in the past we all know were the masters of making bad of a good situation. Though like our away record, its up to us to change this trend (and maybe, hopefully this time we have the means to do so) and I fully agree that these traits in our charcter will more quickly be rectified with the support of us fans than if we also jump on the hyperthetical doom & gloom media bandwagon, should things not go our way from the start. Like wise we should be wary of claiming titles and trophies should we take max points from the first 3 or 4.
But lets all take a deep breath, not get too panicky. Weve all got back on another rollercoaster ride courtesy of the blues and are all feeling the butterflies- hold tight, because this one in one way or another, with even bigger ups and downs, twists and turns will probably be the best one yet...
