So we boarded on time for our flight to the home of civilisation and Zeus's birthplace Crete with the amazing TUI displaying the same levels of stoic attention to detail and par excellence that our Germanic chums quite rightly revel in. Masks were worn throughout the flight and cabin air recirculated and hepa purified to calm the worrisome amongst us. And yes I am fully aware covid can nip through a hepa filter quicker than I can get my underpants on but the thought was there and we felt relatively safe. On arrival we maintained safe distance like the ordilary sausages we are. Depending on your QR code you either got swabbed or you didn't. Coming from the Dorf as opposed to Oldham or Roccadale we went through with a cheery smile but there was a big chap like Dexter the cerial killer waiting in wellies plastic apron and a bag full of swabs to grip the unwary. I am led to believe from Nigel our TUI rep that 2's go through and odd numbers commencing 1's are checked. Resort is quite and the pubs and bars now have to close at 12 which is fine unless you are a clubber. The authorities have taken this action to curb the clubbing and problems with social distances this incurs. All hotels and shops have gel stations and masks to be worn on public transport. Stalls is a resort geared for families and older couples and the majority are observing social distancing. We actually feel safer than back home in Rochdale or Oldham.. Before we came we isolated for 5 days to not only protect ourself but also the locals. Not going on any trips to maintain safe protocol but its not getting in the way of pleasure and or relaxation and everythings open . Stay safe..keep smiling.
Roughly 8 weeks until we go to Rodos, we'd happily cancel if offered the going rate paid £780 for 2 of us now selling £1.38k...tui robbing as they all do.

That being said know the staff very well at the hotel and plenty of locals but it's the plane journey we're concerned about.

No issues with TUI matey and all precautions taken on the plane. Masks compulsory and we opted for KN95's. Air hostesses only gave one bar service at the beginning of flight. We never drunk alcohol to avoid toilets. Felt as safe as could be with TUI. Also cant say that they ripped us on our holiday as they gave us £500 for free toward this one so we paid absolute pennies.Sat in an open air bar in Stalis now in the church Square waiting for Barca kick off. Beer is €1.50 a scoop and only a dozen of us settling down for the show. Nice and quite and suits us just fine. Yamas!

Does anybody please know what the deal is if you were booked to fly somewhere with Jet 2 which has now been added to the naughty list?

Is it easy to change flights to a resort on the safe list without paying through the nose? I have pre-covid insurance I took out back in late December which should cover me but still looking to ideally go away in Sept and happy to exchange flights FOC.

Are Jet2 still flying there? If so I doubt your insurance will cover you at all.

Flights still showing on their website but in the last few minutes seen on twitter people have had upcoming flights/hols booked with jet 2 cancelled.

From what I've seen on twitter, it's easy enough to switch flight destinations etc which is reassuring, it's just being able to get through. No doubt the priority is getting people currently out there home / people due to go out today sorted etc .

Have you got the Jet2 app?
Apps are usually better for accessing rebooking or refunds.
I know the Easyjet one is.

People on TV who've changed holidays from quarentined areas and still getting caught out are annoying me.

If it was an originally book holiday fair enough but as things are changing almost by the day, if you can't afford 14 days lockdown when home take a refund or book next year.

Well done Portugal on your newly installed bridge and wish you all the very best. Happy that the Greeks are keeping their 7 day average below the 20. Currently around the 14 if I'm not mistaken and such a short tourist window to play with. Bless them all.

Dont go abroad this year
It's not worth the risk.

Disagree completely.
As long as people are aware that things can change very quickly, then it's a great time to crack on.

You'll never get the hotels and resorts as quiet as they are at this peak travel window, often at prices that you'll never see again for summer travel, so make the most of it I say.

All being well I've got Zante next weekend, Gran Canaria end of Sept and Zante again early October.
Fingers crossed they all go ahead but I won't lose my shit if they don't.
All 3 are only short breaks as well and with the travel announcements seemingly every Thursday we shouldn't be caught short in that respect (IE we'll know before travel if quarantine is in place, and then obv won't go, advice shouldn't change when out there)

correct, it's also stupid that I can go to Oldham where the rate is a lot higher than in Croatia. Not that's I'd f*cking want to.

168 COVID deaths in Croatia but yeah of course it's not safe for us to visit.....facepalm.

Need Greece to remain under 300 cases a day then that should keep it below the 20 per 100k population quarantine threshold.

It's all utter horseshit from this bunch of charlatans in charge though. From top to bottom, inept and useless beyond belief.

I hope you have a great time.
I had Tenerife booked for October but sadly I cancelled it as I was worried about the quarantine.

STA Travel have ceased trading.

The travel industry will be a carcass before long, as an absolute minimum we really need an extension on the furlough scheme as it's not like travel is gonna be in demand again from 1st Nov when it ends.

Without further help there will be many more companies suffering the same fate as STA, Cruise & Maritime, Funway and countless others.

I don't suppose if anybody "in the know" has info on whether Croatia is likely to still be on the list in September? My gut feel and looking at the rates (unless they dramatically drop this week) is that they will remain on it until at least mid-September.

I spoke to Jet 2 who were REALLY helpful but they can't accommodate change of destination until after 31st Aug once the next review has taken place. Fortunately if it's still on the naughty list I can change destination after 31st Aug but rather sort things this week in case Greece is added next week and Jet2 will have an influx of calls again..

Looking at the way it’s taking off again I’d expect all of Europe to be listed by mid September.

Greece is on the verge of being listed.
Two weeks ago it was reporting 6 cases per 100,000
Now it’s 14 cases per 100,000.
As soon as it gets to 20 it goes on the list.
