Watching the reaction as it was announced was funny. You might have to put up with my stalking till early November now. No point in returning to UK as its so much safer here.I was in a bar here in Tenerife having a beer with my new mate @shackattack when the news broke yesterday evening, people who own businesses were cheering and celebrating, they can’t wait to get more tourists back over here. Germany has also apparently ended its quarantine requirements so double bubble for them
I agree, we've recently had a great week away in the Mendips, in a lovely cottage, the weather was mixed, but we made the most of the good bits, did something every day, went to some lovely places, walked a gorge (not Cheddar), on the beach, on beach cliffs, a couple of NT gardens, and spent a good bit of time in Wells, a lovely City
It's what you make it, there's so many places to try around our country.
If it was my preference I would go somewhere with better weather, but I'm not taking that risk just now having lost 2 holidays already this year, fortunately got most of my money back. Neither me nor wife can risk 2 weeks quarantine due to work (I could probably get away with it, but it would inconvenience others).
I'm looking at going somewhere in mid/late November, but waiting to see where we're up to before booking anything, I have my sights on a luxury hotel in the Cotswolds, but might look for a luxury cottage instead.

Noel Arms in Chipping Camden. Pub/ Hotel and they have curry for breakfast...loads better than it sounds. The chef has won tons of awards for his curries. There's a 4 poster room that's very, very old. Steps are provided to get in the bed!
Or try The Three Ways House Hotel. Lovely rooms and home to the Pudding Club. Bloody lovely place.
Thanks, hadn't thought of the New forest.Just done another round of bookings, The Pig in the New Forest for a few days, a great place just to do nothing apart from walk in the forest and then sit in front of a roaring fire, The George at Stamford for a long weekend, they bring tea into your room in the morning and The Harbour Hotel in Chichester for a couple of nights. All very good hotels.
Trying to sort a long weekend at the Pig on the beach in Studland. A few miles from Corfe Castle and right on the beach.
I’ve not been for over 40 years, if I drive that far south I just keep going to ItalyThanks, hadn't thought of the New forest.
It's a bit further south than I fancy, and I can be in the NF in under 2 hours.I’ve not been for over 40 years, if I drive that far south I just keep going to Italy
We walked from Bournemouth pier to swanage few weeks back. Some lovely pubs en route. Really pleased for travelers that the dreadful Canarian quarantine is at an end. However as much as we love the Reef we can't find it in ourselves to travel anywhere were we have to wear masks outdoors. We really like to walk up the promenade from Cristianos to Porto Colom Harbour and beach but to to do it with a mask on in 80 degrees farenheight is just a bridge too far for foc's like us. We have traveled the known world and beyond apart from Oz and the Far East and a lot of South America and also New Zealand and all the little bits in-between, but the Reef will always remain a firm favourite of ours remaining joint 1st on our sabatical expeditions to Paradise Falls. On that note I sincerely hope UP wins The Moon Critiques best all time film award and if not then it will probably go to the wonderful Shawshank Redemption. Happy holidays everyone and keep putting them coins in your savings jars because everything else in life is superficial compared to travel. You can't take a three piece suite, car or shag pile carpet out of this world with you but you can take your memories so fill of your boots! Wife's 60th in November and feel sure that someone somewhere on this spinning sphere call Erf will accommodate us and well be proper no trouble! A cruise would have been splendid but more chance of platting piss at the moment.

The Real Paradise Falls

Love it! Only been in Fuerteventura forWas feeling impulsive this morning so booked to go to Gran Canaria on Tuesday for 3 nights, taking advantage of a block of 4 days off I have from work and some well priced accommodation (same hotel is more than double on various dates I checked for 2021)
Even though they've only just opened up again, it feels like Canary entry restrictions will be tightened up before long due to our ever increasing numbers here. Due to go again to Gran Can on 21st November with a mate for a proper week long break, but half expecting we'll have to produce a negative test by then (either pre travel like Cyprus or the Madeira model of pre travel or test on arrival).
I'm a sucker for getting away at any opportunity during 'normal' times, but with the world currently so small and all the uncertainty that's gonna spill over into 2021, any hint of a chance to jump on a plane is being snapped up at the moment.
I've been very lucky so far dodging the quarantine and cancellation bullets so long may that continue :)
You absolute Wanker. And you know it.Love it! Only been in Fuerteventura for
20 hours but they have it spot on, masks everywhere in public, unless you are eating, drinking or sat more than 1.5m away from nearest people, police out enforcing it too. Feels far safer than home.
Currently on the balcony with a Gin admiring the view, beats being at home!
Wanker for living my life and making sure my kids are as safe and happy as they can possibly be? Behave. You absolute Wanker. And you know it.
