Holidays

Had 2 weeks in Phuket (Thailand) over Xmas and New Year and loved it. The weather was fantastic, food amazing and the people can’t do enough for you.
We stayed in a Tui hotel built into a hillside and it was the perfect honeymoon destination for us - peace and quiet, no ‘animation’ teams hassling you to spend money on activities etc, just drinks by the adults only pool every day :)
Phuket itself was a bit ‘full on’ with rammed streets, scooters and motorbikes bombing around everywhere (you need your wits about you if you’re crossing the street!) and the streets themselves do stink with open drains/sewerage in some places.
That was our last holiday for at least 18 months until the wife’s 50th and she wants to do Orlando for that so got some serious saving to do!

Safe as tbh, stayed in Banjul, hotel staff took us in town....no issues, and was literally a couple of weeks after a failed 'coup' of government. Hotel stars are facilities, not how posh they are, but they aren't as good as alot....mine was fine, only complaint was food could have been hotter (temp not spice!)

We will be at the Graceland Khao lak. Thinking of doing the big Buddha, similan islands, temples and Khao Lak elephant sanctuary. Our first time and will have a 5 year old with us
 
Booked 2 weeks in turkey in July, going side in Antalya, never been before so no idea what to expect? apart from it’ll be hot! Side looks stunning from what we’ve seen on YouTube, looking forward to it
 
On my 60th birthday holiday , 2 nights Singapore , 11 nights koh samui .
The plan was to meet the youngest daughter who lives in OZ with her boyfriend in Thailand but she surprised me by turning up in Singapore, lovely surprise .
Got into koh samui last night couple of quiet drinks and a nice relaxing day by the pool today when my eldest daughter , sister , niece make a surprise appearance . So much for a quiet chilling holiday , great surprise tho : ) .

Ten out of ten for your family surprises, you must be really chuffed 8-)
 
Off to Vilnius for 3 nights at end of month and heard good things about. Anyone been and recommend sights to visit etc. Thanks

Sadly gone downhill in recent years apparently. I lived there for quite a number of years and I really enjoyed it but friends still living there tell me that it just isn't the same place anymore and many of them are looking at moving on. Sad because it was a great place to live before.
