Anyone got any recommendations of where to stay in Barbados? Looking to go for 10 days in February
We went about 15 years ago for a couple of trips and weren't blown away by the place. Used points to stay at the Hilton, which could have been anywhere, but was fine. Also stayed at the Sandpiper - an older, colonial-style hotel that has probably been refurbished by now.
It was all a bit too American, blended with shabby and not enough chic for me.

West coast has calmer seas and, as a consequence, is more expensive. Some friends of ours stayed regularly at Mango Bay. We, cos we’re not as well off, used to stay at Tropical Sunset Beach, both in Holetown. You get what you pay for of course! St Lawrence Gap (south coast) was always the ‘livelier’ area. We’ve not been for several years now, it’s always been fairly expensive but I’m told it’s off the charts these days.
We stayed at Sugar Bay hotel mate. Small (ish) AI. Lovely place. Brilliant island.

I was there last February at St Lawrence Gap.
The rum punches were to die for.
The regular buses are great.
The reggae buses were driven by maniacs.
The humidity was unbearable.
Oistins fish fry is like Blackpool gone to seed.
Beaches are fabulous.
Sea was rough.
If you self cater be prepared for how expensive everything is.
I didn’t but the supermarket prices were eye watering.
Glad I’ve been.
Life’s too short to go back.
I'm currently on a five day holiday to the Isle of Man, and what a beautiful little haven it is.
I first came in 1966, when I was five years old, and today I revisited the place we stayed back then. Surprisingly, my recollection of it was very accurate. Also revisited a place I stayed in 1971.
There are some fascinating historical features here, and some great Victorian engineering feats that are still in operation.
It's a lovely, quiet little island, with fantastic local transport, picturesque seaside villages and safe sandy beaches. You can fly here or bring your car on a relatively short crossing from Liverpool or Heysham.

I'm in the Wye Valley/Forest of Dean area this week and it's absolutely gorgeous. The Welsh border towns - Brecon, Abergavenny and Monmouth - are fantastic places. Found a brilliant gin palace in Brecon. If I hadn't been driving I'd have needed an ambulance out of there!
Naples is a great city to visit @C90
It’s got an historical old city where you have piazza plebiscito
You have endless little alleyways to explore.
You can also get a boat over to the amalfi coast if necesary.
You could climb mount Vesuvius or visit Pompeii,
There’s also Caserta which is pretty.
Incredible food too.
Thanks pal. I'm going to look at flights soon, sounds like my kind of place. Might even meet up with Kev dB if he's around that week/end.

Agreed, fantastic place to visit, very earthy and authentic with loads to do.
I would definitely recommend a visit to capri and get the cable car up to the top of the mountain,
Positano is stunning. It’s going to be rammed with tourists but worth it none the less.
Most people just fly to Naples and then do the amalfi coast but it’s definitely worth a visit.
The murial to maradona is amazing too.

I'm going to Naples for a day in October:)
Never been before.
We get on a cruise ship in Rome with a few stops in Italy France and Spain, then on another ship to Cape town, then another to Brisbane via Singapore.
54 nights !!
I'll be fat as a pig :)
